We’re All Wrong All The Kids Are Right

Time again to spin around the continent to find out how the Hawks deeper in the pipeline got along this past week.

Let’s start with the apple of pretty much everyone’s eye, Phillip Danault. Apparently, this trade to Moncton has gone down quite well with him, as he’s racked up 15 points in eight games since joining up. In three games this past weekend he collected five assists. That helped Moncton go 3-0. Though it won’t help them catch Halifax in their division, who are a silly 39-5-2, but it helps when you have Nathan McKinnon, Jonathan Drouin, and Stefan Fournier.

In Victoriaville, Brandon Whitney had two starts. He made 20 saves on 23 shots for one win and 27 out of 30 to get an OT loss. The numbers are still unsightly for Whitney, as he’s 17-16-2, but with a 3.30 GAA and an .897 SV%.

Dillon Fournier had a weekend he’d probably like to forget. He went -6 in three games. He’s 6-10-16 +7 for the year.

Popping over to the OHL now. Garrett Ross had a three point weekend for Saginaw in three games, with two of them goals. He’s a nice, even 26-26-52 in 43 games.

Alex Broadhurts had an assist in two games. He has 43 points in 48 games so far.

Head west young man. The other big gun below Rockford, Mark McNeill, had a goal against Kelowna this weekend (Duncan Keith sad-face). He stands at 18-29-47 in 42 games.

Or maybe the other big gun is Mac Carruth. Mackie (I think I can call him Mackie) had a bit of a wobble last Wednesday, giving up four goals on 30 shots in a shootout loss. Of  course, he then backed that up with a 36-save shutout. Carruth stands at 21-3-2 for the year, with a .934 SV% and a 1.89 GAA. I’m sure Rockford fans cannot wait for this guy to get there next year, if not the end of this season (though the Winterhawks will almost assuredly be playing longer than the Hogs).

Travis Brown had an assist in three games this past weekend. He has 30 points but is an unsightly -14 on the year.

Ok, get your beer helmets on, we’re going to college. Kevin Hayes had an assist but was a -2 as BC kind of hit a speed bump and got double-worked by Maine at home this weekend. Hayes is 6-17-23 in 23 games, but the goals have really dried up for him. He has one in just under two months.

Stephen Johns had two assists in the back-half of a split with Ferris State for Notre Dame (they won that and lost the first). He was also a +2 and stands at 1-11-12 +4 for the season.

Sam Jardine was a +3 and added an assist for Ohio State as they fed it to Lake Superior St. for two wins.

Joe Gleason was a +2 in two games for North Dakota against St. Cloud, and Nick Mattson got into one and was a +1.

The rest of the Hawks college guys probably aren’t going to matter.

Ok, over to Europe the best we can. Teuvo Teravainen had a goal against Pelicans (who obviously rock). He’s at 10-12-22 in the 30 games, but he did start slowly so that’s better than it looks.

Maxim Shalunov seems to have settled into Chelyabinsk’s junior team in the VHL, where he’s 2-7-9 in 18 games.

Ok, that’s enough.

I’d like to hear more about Stephen Johns’ supposed girlfriend.

    • laaarmer

      She fell down

      • Joe Banks

        Is she real?

        • Accipiter

Hmm, if she falls in the middle of the woods when no one is around does she make a sound ?

  • Sparky_The_Barbarian

Glad there are some good prospects further down the pipe, as Rock Vegas seems to be struggling.

    • Joe Banks

Rock Vegas always struggles… but why? Penalties for one.

Caruth is good. I go to grad school in Pullman WA and have tickets to
see the Chiefs in Spokane. I never miss a game when the WInterhawks
come to town. Caruth is killing it at the junior level.

I am very excited about Big Mac. I watch the Winterhawks every chance I get. Such as, @ Everett Silvertips 9:05 CST tonight!
