The Hooray The Stupidity’s Over Sale

Well, we’ll kick off this blog for real tomorrow. For now, I don’t want to say I’m excited or even relieved that these morons finally got around to giving us their game that they should have months ago. But screw it, I’m out of anger.

But what I will say is that Our Winter Of Discontent Sale is now a The Stupidity’s Over Sale. Season subscriptions of The Committed Indian gameday program will remain at $40. So get yours right here and help a business that was greatly affected by this lunacy.

I think you pretty much summed it up as best as it could possibly be summed up, Sam…

    lower case:: hooray.

No exclamation point, no bold-type or underlining. Yay, whatever. All this means is that Rockford will have their roster pillaged.

Not sure if I can bring myself to get excited on any level right now about it. I’ve got just enough anger left to stay angry with all of them.
    :::yawn:::

    • ahnfire

I’m with you. Hockey is back – good. Do you think I’m going to be all happyhappyjoyjoy because you idiots (NHL/PA) finally pulled your head out of your own asses? Just shut up and play hockey.

      • laaarmer

So you’re here just to moderate?

        • http://www.facebook.com/hair.helmet Hair Helmet

So she says. I’ve seen nothing in moderation so far.

          • AirTrafficAJ

If Beer Thirty is moderation, I’m there.

          • stacie7

I’m sure you guys will give us something to moderate soon :)

        • ahnfire

mostly. I’m glad hockey is back but I can’t find myself to be as euphoric as everyone else is.

          • http://www.facebook.com/hair.helmet Hair Helmet

            worst. euphoria. ever.

        • 10thMountainFire

I had a hearty laugh at that one.

    • 10thMountainFire

You know you want it. Just let it go. Anger helps nothing here. Release the Hossa.

Turns out handing out UPBOATS is dangerous. Get well soon HIBLD.

      • Paul the Fossil

Test test test…is it just me or is this system a lot less intuitive than the one that SCH runs on?

        • Accipiter

          Much less user friendly.

          • Paul the Fossil

            This.

        • Paul the Fossil

In particular why is there both the regular blog posts with comment threads and then a separate user-posts “forum” with a _separate_ login? With the latter’s login being prominent but the former’s hidden under a tiny icon…is there a purpose for that arrangement aside from irritating users?

          • ahnfire

there are two different log-ins for the commenting system (disqus) and for the forum section (wordpress). as for why they’re arranged the way they are, I don’t know.

        • http://twitter.com/oregon_hawk Oregon_hawk

By sorting by ‘oldest’ it approximates the order of posts from SCH. However, i don’t think there’s a keyboard shortcut to scroll to new posts.

        • http://twitter.com/VULTR3 Mike

I think it depends on the level of your intuition… HAHA

    • The_FFF

Whoa, why did Disqus just move this to the top and tell me it was “new?”

  • http://twitter.com/frictionjane Jane Doe

Holy shit. I don’t visit SCH for months, because, well, why bother, right? So, they psuedo-sign a deal this morning, and I’m like, okay, time to see what the boys have been up to. And, WTF? WTF is this crap?! After scrolling through a couple hundred posts, I finally found your send offs, and here I am. Congrats on the new site, looks great, Indian will replace SCH for my daily Hawks fix!

They haven’t exactly LOCKED us out. heh heh. What I am concerned with is how many people are coming to the new site. 8-12 comments per post. I miss the days where 300-400 comments was a regular thing, sometimes hitting the 1000′s. Think once games start this site will be hot shit like it was supposed to be? I know I’ll be here

      • laaarmer

What we need is a discussion on SHOT QUALITY to kick off the season.

Can Crow stop vulcanized rubber ?
    Why Ray Emery ?
Will Sheldon Brookbank help the D ?
Will the special teams really be special ?
    Who is the 2nd line C ?
Did we trade Kane yet ?
    Jamie Kompon ?

Sorry to post OT in an active thread, but I’m stumped, and this is the only place the board will let me post. Okay, I’ve signed up, found the WP dashboard and edited my profile, even uploaded an avatar that appears on my WP dashboard… but not here. • Joe Banks

Hooray! Now we will see what this website can be! – I cannot wait to see the first “post CBA agreement” edition of the Indian!

I also cannot wait to see 100+ posts on a thread here…

Congrats to the Triumvirate on surviving this.

    • AirTrafficAJ

Already there my man. 110 as of 20 minutes ago.

  • Minorhawk

I’ve been monitoring the site here waiting for the settlement…Now that the NHLPA has bent over and given in to most the owners’ demands, my question is how do the Blackhawks improve enough to make a run deep into the playoffs?

  • lobster

Now is no time to be down! It is a negotiation in bad faith, naturally the deadline of it will be the end of it. It’s unfortunate, but we have a deal now.

    • Joe Banks

So if the deadline was October???

      Those dumasses!

      • lobster

Yup. Look at American Politics right now. When there is unfriendly negotiating the deal just doesn’t seem to get done until the last second.

  • shinkicker

I just want the schedule. surely they’ve had people drawing up contingencies all year, right?

  • RLWiener

Does anyone know if Hossa is ready to return? I can’t remember if I’ve heard anything on him in awhile.

    • Accipiter

He was cleared to play a little while ago.

    • RLWiener

Nevermind. “Hossa has recently been medically cleared to return
from a concussion, but of course he’s not playing at the moment. It
sounds like he might consider playing in Europe or the perhaps the ECHL

One of the beat writers tweeted something a week or so ago basically saying he looks like his usual studly self at last. Fingers crossed, the lockout was actually good for him (and Toews).

    • Paul the Fossil

He participated in the on-ice workouts organized by Teows at Ridgeland ice rink in Oak Park last week.

    • stacie7

The twitters a few weeks ago said he was released to skate and ready to go

  • TMFF

I said it back on September 16, 2012. If Hockey locked out I was going to stay away. Though I am pleased to see the Fucking Childish stupidity finally SUBSIDE, I as a fan feel used-abused, cheated, taken for granted, and a pawn. I have spent allot of fucking money and time on the Blackhawks and NHL, and this is how we the fans are treated?

I am sticking by my guns, I am staying away from Hockey. I will be deployed for the 2013-14 season. Who knows, maybe I will be back at some point this season, but I doubt it. Just extremely pissed off at this point. Two times in 8 years, FOR REAL!

NHL and NHLPA, please now use the money you got out of the deal, buy a Golden “adult toy” and go fuck yourselves!

    • Joe Banks

There, there… it’s not healthy to hold things in. Tell us how you really feel.
But seriously, I for one would rather see your posts. The way I see it, TheComittedIndian is a therapy session where we can share our pain.

    • laaarmer

Hockey is in you. Toews gets a couple 5 hole goals and kaner gets in trouble. You’ll be in.

    • http://www.facebook.com/hair.helmet Hair Helmet

TMFF, you’re taking this too personally. It was never about you or me or any of us fans. Your .0000001% of the revenues just doesn’t draw much water, nor does mine. We’d prefer you stick around and cuss at us…with us, and for us. Plus, if you spend any money here, its only helping the poor people.

      • TMFF

WE the FANS, I may be only one, but I am a fan. Fuck ‘em.

It is not here at the CI I am referring to directly, but what can I contribute if I do not pay attention to the NHL?

        • DesertHawk

          Curmudgeonlyness?

          • TMFF

Not ill tempered, just pissed! lol

          • DesertHawk

I just meant cause you’re older than me :P

        • Z-man19

Your ‘fuck’ laced tirades are always fun

    • ahnfire

I’m not as bitter as you, TMFF, but I understand how you feel.

Either way, stay safe while deployed! Even if you aren’t watching hockey, check back in with us every once in a while anyway. We’ll miss your upbeat & cheery personality.

  • laaarmer

64.3 million cap. Hawks currently at 64.4 if I am reading capgeek correctly. What’s gonna happen? Also, why dont they just play a full season through JUly and then start next season in Oct? Anyone?

    • laaarmer

Ah, 70.2 milski. so the cap is 64, but you can spend 70.2 all prorated. prorated……

    • http://whatisthebestadverb.wordpress.com/ I am not Chico Maki

If I’ve read (and retained) properly, teams can spend to 70-whatever million this year. Strict cap compliance doesn’t enter into things until next year, when it’s 64.3.

  • http://twitter.com/oregon_hawk Oregon_hawk

    2013-2013 roster:

    CAPGEEK.COM USER GENERATED ROSTER
    My Custom Lineup

    Daniel Carcillo ($0.825m) / Patrick Kane ($6.300m) / Marian Hossa ($5.275m)
    Bryan Bickell ($0.542m) / Dave Bolland ($3.375m) / Michael Frolik ($2.333m)
    Andrew Shaw ($0.565m) / Marcus Kruger ($0.900m) / Jamal Mayers ($0.650m)

    Steve Montador ($2.750m) / Michal Rozsival ($2.000m)
    GOALTENDERS
    Corey Crawford ($2.667m)
    Ray Emery ($1.150m)
    ——
CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)
(these totals are compiled with the bonus cushion)
SALARY CAP: $70,200,000; CAP PAYROLL: $64,445,128; BONUSES: $587,500
    CAP SPACE (24-man roster): $6,342,372

    ===================================================

So… right off, there’s 6.3m in room this season, but next season there isn’t (as the cap drops to 64.5). So in the long view, the team is full up, but this season, if theres a chance to go for the cup (there always is), there’s room for moves.

The defense is all mucked up. Two top pairing guys and like, 9 bottom pairing guys.

Don’t forget: Kruger, Bickell, and Stalberg are all various FA’s after this season. Trade bait or promising futures, variously.

Leddy is also an RFA after the close of the season.

    • laaarmer

Frolik has got to go, right?

      • Joe Banks

        What about John Scott?

        • BodomSlayer

    5:00am – dealed signed.
5:02am – Hawks PK lets in first goal. :(

    • Sparky_The_Barbarian

But that’s okay because the PP is so awesome, right?

  • 334Rules

Let’s start by saying my plan will never work (I know you’re all shocked).

But wouldn’t it be great if the league opened up the shortened schedule to empty arenas in every city? If we all just gave the owners and the players a collective one-finger salute on game one? If we all said “we’re not fucking crack-heads so desperate for a hit that we’ll gladly stagger in, lubed up, ready for another $8/beer ass fucking”?

We can all come back, full of piss and vinegar, for Game 2. But a Game 1 boycott might just communicate just how badly these greedy assholes (all of them) hurt the people who, ultimately, pay all of their bills.

    • http://www.facebook.com/hair.helmet Hair Helmet

It’s almost like you’ve never tried to give up an addiction before. Let the NHL back in, let it course through your veins. Start trying to figure out Q’s line change logic…that’s when the hallucinations start.

    • BodomSlayer

      This isn’t a bad idea…it just won’t happen lol.

    • 10thMountainFire

Vindictiveness won’t get us anywhere. The truth is that we don’t hold nearly enough power as a group to affect any change in how they bargain among themselves. Just enjoy the sport and forget about visiting any level of punishment on them. It simply won’t work. Baseball took only a short time to see fans return at record numbers. Just enjoy the sport.

      • AirTrafficAJ

It’s kind of like being furious at the federal government. It sucks, but there isn’t shit you can do about it. May as well just love being a hockey fan again.

        • 10thMountainFire

          Exactly. Perfectly worded.

    • http://www.thecommittedindian.com/ PowrFwd37

Actually, there is a Facebook group called “Just Drop It” which is currently about 22,000 fans that have pledged to boycott NHL Games. They have been getting a lot of press in Canada and for what its worth, I agree with you. I’d love to see empty arenas for at least one game, league-wide but it will never happen sadly.

  • Kissmyanthia

Ok so someone has to help me here.

make whole covers reduced player contracts. What percentage did they get reduced by? because if they did, that 64.3 million dollar cap wouldnt actually be that much under that old system.

If they got reduced by say 15%, Jonathan Toews 6.5 Million salary would actually be 5.525 million.

It gives teams a bit of breathing room i guess, but I was just wondering for cap hit purposes

  • KingTalkyTiki

Once again, you say all the things that I am thinking.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/John-Faker/558555424 John Faker

Ok so someone help me here. The “Make Whole” is supposed to cover reduced player salaries. How much did they actually get reduced?

Wouldnt that mess all the cap hits and cap numbers for all the teams? So if the hawks are at 64.4 mil this year wouldnt that number go down?

    • birdhead

Here’s my vague stab at it (could be wrong, caveat lector. James Mirtle has been really good on this stuff for the whole lockout if you’d rather read someone who actually knows what he’s talking about). The first thing is that, for the purposes of *this* discussion, the cap isn’t important. It functions as a lid determining what individual players get paid and how much individual teams can spend, but doesn’t really affect how much players get paid as a group.

The second thing is that there wasn’t a rollback, so player salaries weren’t actually reduced (which means everyone will be scrambling to come in under the cap).

Throughout the season, players get paid based on their existing contracts (or soon-to-be-new ones #offersheetPK). However, a certain chunk comes out of their salary and gets put in escrow (I think around 15%). (Does escrow earn interest, anyone?) At the end of the season, the NHL adds up all the money they’ve made and divides that in half. Then they see how much the players have been paid – in real dollars, not cap dollars (so they count $8mil for Keith, not $5.5). If the players have been paid more than 50% of the revenue (or 57% under the old CBA), the NHL takes the escrow money, or enough of the escrow money to make up the difference, and returns what’s left. If they’ve been paid less (which I think happened once in the old CBA), the NHL returns all the escrow money and tops the players up.

Because players have been getting contracts to fit, the jump from getting 57% of revenues to 50% of revenues constitutes a de facto salary rollback (but one that doesn’t affect their cap hit, so frankly it’s the worst of both worlds for teams that are up against the cap). they’ll lose LOADS of money to escrow so that, e.g., instead of Keith getting paid $8mil minus a couple of percent to make the split work in 13/14, he’ll get paid $8mil minus a really LARGE percentage – but his cap hit will stay at $5.5mil and his salary will still theoretically be $8mil, depending on how much the league makes over the next few years. Eventually, presumably, league revenues will rise enough (and existing contracts will expire enough) that players aren’t contracted for so much more than they’re entitled to under the CBA, and then he gets paid $8mil minus the usual fiddly bits. The “make whole” provision is supposed to be money the owners put in in the next couple of years so that people with these existing contracts will lose less than they otherwise would have. I haven’t been able to figure out whether they just chuck it in to top up the players’ escrow or if they will return it to the players some other way but that’s what it’s supposed to do, so that player contracts will be closer to face value.

That’s really long and probably not very clear. The tl;dr for cap and rosterbation: the cap will come down (it’s determined by the predicted revenue) to probably $60mil (prorated for the short season) but cap hits won’t change.

      • birdhead

lol that last paragraph is totally wrong (I did all my reading at 1am this morning). Cap $70 this year, $64.3 next year, I guess will be determined as usual the year after that.

Don’t they give you the non-Chicago broadcast, if the Chicago one is blacked out?

    • AirTrafficAJ

There’s no way they could charge more then half of regular price. If they did, and you were a DirecTv customer, you could just bitch up a storm and get it for dirt cheap. It’s how I got the NFL package this year.

    • justforkicks

that better be the case, 1 because its not the full season and 2 because if they really want to get fans back and stuff this is a really good way to do it

  • http://www.facebook.com/hair.helmet Hair Helmet

I predict “scrolling for yellows” to become a term on here.

    • DesertHawk

I hate trying to find new posts, the yellow thing doesn’t seem to work right for me…. and I end up having to refresh the page, at which point they’re no longer yellow…. hopefully there are optimizations in the future for Disqus.

      • http://whatisthebestadverb.wordpress.com/ I am not Chico Maki

I must be the same. I don’t even understand this. I thought hair helmet was just a racist pig.

        • AirTrafficAJ

          Win.

        • http://www.facebook.com/hair.helmet Hair Helmet

I’m so unracist I don’t know what you mean.

    • The_FFF

Do you get the yellows if you read oldest first? I’ve been trying newest first lately but ugh.

  • http://twitter.com/oregon_hawk Oregon_hawk

Watching a full game on Hulu. Don’t remember what happens:

    http://www.hulu.com/watch/338689#i0,p0,d2

    • http://twitter.com/oregon_hawk Oregon_hawk

Ugh. Too much reality. Weak goal by Crawdaddy. blown PP. I think toews is out? /vomit

      • Joe Banks

        Brings back memories, don’t it?

  • niuhuskie224

I understand the frustration but at least it is back. I am excited that hockey is back and can’t wait for the puck to drop on the 19th.

    • http://www.facebook.com/hair.helmet Hair Helmet

Did you…did you just Waylon? That’s uh….that’s….uhhh…unpossible here.

  • Brady

Confessions of a creeper: I crept around on SCH for probably 2 years, posted occasionally, and upon news of the lockout became fat and bitter much like the denizens of the city in which I live. ( hiii St. Louis). This is my first time here, so be gentle…but it feels like home!

    Hockey is back!

    • AirTrafficAJ

      Creepy.

      Also: Welcome.

    • The_FFF

Welcome! Condolences on your place of residence.

    • Hi, I’m Bob LeDonne

      Hi, I’m Bob LeDonne.

      • flavius

        Yeah, right

  • Waylon

Naturally they can all go fark themselves with rubber hoses – but that being said, look for the return of SAAD THE IMPALER! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

  • Sparky_The_Barbarian

So last spring what were the odds on Hockey returning before Derek Rose?

  • KingTalkyTiki

Once again, you say all the things that I am thinking….

    • DesertHawk

      Deja vu x2

      • KingTalkyTiki

Finally figured out how to post as myself. It’s been a banner day all around!

  • Gozer the Traveler

NHL: fuck off, and I’m glad you’re back.

ToS: I’m glad you’re still around. Can’t wait to watch some hockey and see how the GameDay threads work out with the new commenting system.

  • Skags

I hate that they were locked out, but my beloved Blackhawks are back. 50 games worth of hockey is better than stuck in nomansland.

    I’m excited. I’m extremely excited.

    GO HAWKS.

I think with a better commissioner, they wouldn’t have taken it this far. This is 100% on Bettman as far as I’m concerned. So fuck him. Beyond that, let’s get in onnnnnnn.

    • http://www.facebook.com/derlemke Mark Lemke

It’s still sinking in for me. The idea I can see them live and watch on TV thrills me.

    • Joe Banks

Though I very much dislike Bettman, I can’t put this all on him. I think there are 5 or six jackass owners that deserve much more of the blame, and the players are not completely without sin.

I am baffled that Bettman (allegedly) would sit at the bargaining table and tell players several GM’s would love to dismantle their teams. No good could come from comments like that.

BTW, mediator Scot Beckenbaugh deserves a medal for what he did.

      • DaveM36

Yeah, I’m ready to nominate Beckenbaugh for sainthood at this point.

  • Gozer the Traveler

    So: has anyone been watching college hockey during the lockout? My WMU Broncos are looking pretty good;

    • Sparky_The_Barbarian

Could hardly find it, especially my Redhawks.

      • Gozer the Traveler

How do you feel about the conference realingment? The NCHC next year is going to be pretty brutal…

  • TMFF

    Huh,
Hockey comes back and the next thing you know there are 130+ comments!

    • DesertHawk

It’s almost like this is a hockey blog or something…

    • mightymikeD

      and…

      • birdhead

the skeleton is so cute and harmless-looking.

      • ahnfire

damnit, some gave mmd crayons again.

        • mightymikeD

          missed you, too

          • Z-man19

I say you bring out the full display of aye ayes, show Ahn just how much you’ve missed her

          • mightymikeD

as my last post, before I’m Bahnhammered…

          • ahnfire

fuck the tupperware aye-aye, I’m microwaving that little bastard.

btw, mmd, I’m using your microwave. no reason.

          • mightymikeD

oh, yeah. Like that’ll be the first time I’ve cleaned ‘sploded Aye-Aye out of me microwave…

          • stacie7

you just made me want to go watch Gremlins

          • ahnfire

I loved Gizmo. He was the best.

          • Accipiter

            Stripe !!

          • Z-man19

The banhammer is probably all rusted up, doubt it’d reach you all the way in Ireland

    • Joe Banks

Woo Hoo!!! Now let’s go for 1000!!!

    • Sparky_The_Barbarian

It took hockey coming back to get me to spend a couple hours figuring out how to navigate this new board…. all good now.

  • justforkicks

now can only hope our guys are ready to go.

    • Gozer the Traveler

Does anyone have a list of players that stayed home and also did not play in the AHL?

      • justforkicks

across the league? idk haven’t seen that, but would be good to have. obvs on the hawks its basically all the main players except for kane.

        • mightymikeD

          and Stalberg…

          • justforkicks

oh yeah. i was mainly thinking hossa, toews, keith, seabs, and bolly

  • girlphoenix

Is it wrong that I’m just worried about how this will affect the Icehogs? I’ve become emotionally attached to those failboats.

    • justforkicks

hah, they are going to be hit hard so understandable!

    • mightymikeD

it’s going to affect the rest of the “A” too.. so don’t worry overmuch. The Piggies will continue to bumble along.

    • Joe Banks

they just lost 3 in a row and coach Dent complained the NHLers are playing “not to get hurt”… they probably will get better

  • Gozer the Traveler

On the downside, Jesse Rogers is posting Blackhawks articles again…

    • TMFF

Just when you thought the stupidity in Hockey was over!

    • Joe Banks

      He’s no John Jaeckel

    • 10thMountainFire

They should have included his dismissal in the CBA.

  • Sparky_The_Barbarian

Article from THN calling on Bettman to step down now that the deal is done. I agree, if you add Fehr to the list.

    http://sports.yahoo.com/news/time-gary-bettman-step-down-203500708–nhl.html

  • 10thMountainFire

So now we can look forward to analysis of Patrick Kane’s night out in place of analysis of Jay Cutler’s facial expressions.

  • DaveM36

I’m probably not the first one to mention this, but the comment list is real long and I’m lazy.

Marian Hossa is 100 percent. Words cannot describe how happy those words make me.

    • 10thMountainFire

Rest assured that those words make many blueliners around the league a bit less happy than you.

      • Accipiter

You’re waking the neighbours! Shut up!

        • 10thMountainFire

I’ll never call him dad. Not even if there’s a fire.

  • TMFF

    After some thought,
With me being in Hawaii and shit, the NHL giving GCL (on-line stream one) for free or GREATLY discounted would go a LONG way to winning me back. IT would not seal the deal BUT it would help.

    • 10thMountainFire

Brother, if I had known you were in Hawaii I would have stopped by to offer a sailor a beer. I am out as of this month. Safe travels and keep me safe.

And Hawaii tossed out the NHL package for… of all things… the NBA package last year on me. I killed a few inconsequential kittens and broke a few windows before I was restrained.

      • TMFF

I am stationed here now. Let me know if you ever make it back here.

        • 10thMountainFire

Enjoy the island. I’ve seen the Naval facilities. I hate you guys so much. So, so much. I had Schofield.

          • TMFF

Ha, I was at Schofield Barracks on Friday. Looking for nice spots to get pics of the Wainee Mountain range, if the fucking rain ever fucking stops!

          • 10thMountainFire

People think it’s a joke… it’s not. When you approach Schofield, it starts raining. North Shore, Pearl, etc… no rain! So much hatred…

          • TMFF

I went up to North Shore afterwards. Killer 20-30′ breakers. got some good pics and video. I was fucking soaked from the rain and freezing my ass off with the wind too boot.

          • 10thMountainFire

North Shore is just gorgeous. I had a friend with a house in Haleiwa. Millions just for the property up there.. he rented and lived really well on an E5 salary. Lucky fuck.

          • TMFF

DAMN! Haliewa is nice. I went further up the coast and around the North Point and down the East side to K-Bay before taking LikeLike back to Honolulu and Pearl. There are some absolute awesome photo spots. But getting into the MNTS is a royal pain in the ass!

          • 10thMountainFire

Aye. I was fortunate- I had a Harley (like 50% of the population, apparently) so I had an easy go of it… and the riding on Oahu is outstanding. H3 is probably the best as far as the highways go but you can go almost anywhere and enjoy it… when the rain stops.

          • TMFF

H3 is by far the most scenic Interstate I have ever seen! It is awesome to just drive through it, and to come out the tunnel N-Bound and see Kenahoe Bay sitting in front of you from 1000′ up, phenomenal!

          • 10thMountainFire

The only problem is that, especially on a bike… you hit that highway and there’s no turning back for 10 miles! But it’s worth it. You’re right… the finest scenery anywhere. Stunning.

          • TMFF

I want to climb the stairway to Heaven, but I have a fear falling painfully to my death for some reason! lol

          • 10thMountainFire

No worries at all. It’s a good time. Besides Stairway, there’s just a ton of things to do on that island. Honolulu is nice, too. I missed Chicago immensely but Honolulu is a fine city.

          • TMFF

I think I have done everything here on Oahu! lol. Waikiki is alright Waianae scares Zombies at night and I still prefer Chicago . Plan is to head to Hawaii (aka Big Island) next month and see the Volcanoes and hit Molokai in April from the North Face Cliffs. Maui is a project probably for next year.

          • 10thMountainFire

Take advantage of all the opportunities. When you leave, there will be a bunch of things you wish you had done… and the big island is a winner!
