Stranger Than Fiction – Kings/Western Conference Final Preview Podcast With The Royal Half

With there being about 40 hours (give or take, depending on time zones) between the death honk of the Ducks and the Kings taking the ice on West Madison tomorrow afternoon, there’s obviously not nearly enough time to get as in depth into the opponent in print as we’d like here. Fortunately we’ve got you covered.

We were able to enlist Kings’ ne’er-do-well blogger The Royal Half at far too early of an hour Pacific-time this morning to have a chat with Sam and I regarding what to expect in this the second consecutive go-around with the Kings in the Western Conference Final. All of the usual bases are covered, and it’s a quick listen at around 25 minutes, without all of the usual pomp and circumstance and production value that goes into one of these, because time is of the essence.

Download it here or listen below.

Some love for the Rags & Habs here?

    • 60MinutesBaby60

I mean it’s puck drop time game 1 ECF Here to chat the festivities …

        Who’s favored in the series?

        • 60MinutesBaby60

Prolly Habs higher seed, but I’m liking the Rangers A LOT.

        • GypsyDanger86

Canadiens are favored because they’re the higher seed, and coming right off beating a Stanley Cup favorite.

I’d say the two teams are very evenly matched though, and it will come down to goaltending (even more so than series usually do).

          • 60MinutesBaby60

Nettenders key no doubt. Hank is numero uno for me
and Price playing big for sure. Quick is top shelf too.
Who’s that leave? Ha my MAIN man Cro.

Np problemo AT ALL taking my chances w/ Crawford.
For better or worse in sickness & in health … 😉

          • Joe Banks

            Good old Crow…

    • Sparky_The_Bard-barian

      Just go 7.

  • GypsyDanger86

    Looks like 29-19-81, 10-26-88, 20-12-23, 52-16-28 for Game 1 against the Kings.

…Not bad. I think Morin’s speed would be more valuable than Bolligs… whatever he brings. And I think Smith and Zus should switch, because that Carter line looked really fast last night and I don’t think Zus can keep up.

Hopefully Shaw healthy soon, although when he gets in, Regin probably sits instead of Zus or Bollig, which is annoying.

    • 60MinutesBaby60

Q rates experience over speed. Gotta respect the guy but gimme speed speed speed I’ll live w/ rookie misques.

      • GypsyDanger86

Agreed. Especially against a team who’s only real apparent weakness thus far has been team speed…

      • Sparky_The_Bard-barian

Experience, and taking care of the puck, always taking care of the puck, except for Bollig…. sigh…

    • HossasPierogi

He needs to play whom he dresses (other than Bollig). If Q needs him as a physical nuclear option, whatever I guess. That’s the only purpose I see him serving.

  • 60MinutesBaby60

    Saint Louie gets ’em off!

    • 60MinutesBaby60

Beauty set-up & score by the Rags. They’re looking crisp.

  • ahnfire

    hey a podcast!

  • GypsyDanger86

BTW, if Sharp is actually injured (which I’m still not sure I buy completely), wouldn’t it make more sense to rest him rather than practice? That’s what Hossa did last year’s post-season.

    • 60MinutesBaby60

Q leaves it up to vets to make their own call?

  • Marian Nation

Key to the series – Stay out of the penalty box

    • Marian Nation

Unless it’s Bollig, if playing, and winds up a suspension again. I would glady accept that.

  • Preacher

A good listen. Nice to hear intelligent bloggers talk hockey, rather than hearing/reading so much of the drivel in the other hockey blogs (*cough* SLGT *cough*). Solid analysis and honest appraisals from both sides. Good stuff.

  • 60MinutesBaby60

Rags unreal! Habs dominate the entire 2nd period but NYR comes out +1 on scores.

60minutes Gotta skate all 60 can’t let up even 1. Evidence of same last minute 2nd period today on Mont GO RAGS.

  • GypsyDanger86

Damn. Rangers look WAY faster than I remember them being against the Hawks in the reg season.

Kreider is a monster. That much size and speed is a hell of a combo.

    • 60MinutesBaby60

Rangers in game 4 against Pens looked COMPLETELY done.
      Never’ve seen a turnaround like this e-v-e-r.

  • Gabble Ratchet

    Who is Andre Kopitar?

    • Special Agent Dale Cooper

      Bizzaro Anze Kopitar?

  • Sparky_The_Bard-barian

Maybe Pittsburgh is doing it right. Last year Van let their coach go to the Rangers and hired Torts, while keeping their GM…

How’s that working out in Van and NY?

    • jordyhawk

I was just thinking that obviously AV was the problem in Vancouver. The hack GM fires the good coach and replaces him with the hack coach and then they are both gone. Something to enjoy for many years.

  • stacie7

Love the podcasts guys. More of this please!

    • Brad Lee

I love this podcast. If the Blackhawks win the LA series, they will have home ice during the Stanley Cup. Rangers are playing at a different level, though. They look like they’re peaking, but our Hawks can beat them!!! Go Hawks.

      • 60MinutesBaby60

Share your sentiments to the letter one thing tho,
let’s win game 1 of the WCF ‘fore we even look to game 2 of same.
The SC final? Broham it’s a million miles away still.
