3 on 3 is going to be better than a shootout, but it’s still a travesty compared to real hockey. Stars who get a lot of ice time in OT will see their numbers soar, while the poor goalies will see their save percentages plummet.

    What does this imply?

“Patrick Kane’s accuser’s attorney says rape kit evidence bag anonymously delivered to accuser’s mother, includes identifying information”

Her parents are divorced? The case is being tossed out? Kaner has friends in high places?

    Bizarre…

This is different than there was no DNA found. The lawyer is accusing the evidence of being tainted/tampered with.
Interesting to hear a rebuttal by the police.
In any event, the net result is the same. There is no DNA evidence.
    Getting circus like.

    • Lionel Hutz

Disagree. It matters when it was tampered with. Before or after testing. It could help or hurt both sides.

      • wreckinball

Oh I agree its bad, for the police, but as far as the conclusion that there is no DNA evidence to use against Kane is the same. Its the job of the police to maintain control of the evidence. If they don’t the evidence can’t be used against the accused.
Which was where we were at before.
The Feds can investigate the police but they don’t have a time machine thus the evidence is gone. He said/she said no forensic tie breaker.

        • KEK

Except of course if said forensic evidence is tampered with. Like I said, the case will shift on focus to pictures, testimonies, notes from police, note from when rape kit was administered.

    • KEK

The net result is not the same, it is very likely that the district attorney if not the feds get involved in the case. This is very disturbing, that evidence is never supposed to leave the police station.

There is a huge difference between tampered evidence and not. The case will likely shift in focus.

    Un-fucking-believable.

I know there is a bunch of people itching to fire up with this presser, but I’m stunned. How could anyone get evidence out of police custody & yes it matters whether or not the evidence had been tested yet. Interesting that her lawyer is referring to this person as a “good citizen” trying to help. By dumping the bag on a doorstep? I’d think a good citizen with knowledge of this “tampering” would ask for immunity & offer to testify. This is reaching Tonya Harding levels of conspiracy.
Also, when the bag was found, why didn’t it go straight back into polic custody for them to hold a conference? Did the mom call the lawyer or the police? Did the lawyer keep the bag in his possesion until he revealed it at the presser? Is this legal? I’m not a cop or a lawyer, and I’m not saying Kane did nothing wrong, BUT I am saying that I do not believe 88 or the Hawks would ever consider paying someone to tamper with evidence, that’s some TV stuff. Athletes avoid jail all the time without having to tamper. It’s wrong but it happens. This is beyond bizarre & for the first time I honestly think this is shady & I’m questioning everything. DNA results came back negative & the girl’s camp said nothing, now 3 days later the chain of custody is being questioned? I’m just numb, one of these 2 parties is going to proven to be a liar & and possibly a bit unstable.

    • wreckinball

Tonya Harding is a great comparison. Also good question on when the bag was found on the mom’s doorstep.

    • wreckinball

I don’t know crap about DNA testing. Maybe somebody here does.
Could someone try to add DNA to evidence?
On the other side could the accused clean off the DNA?

  • ItalianBeef

Oh, to be a fly on the wall at the Hamburg Police Department today…

High-fives behind a Blue Wall of Silence.

      • ItalianBeef

That, I highly doubt. Something tells me that a lot of trust issues are about to be aired out behind closed doors though.

  • wreckinball

When are the police going to have a presser?

  • ItalianBeef

Kane’s lawyer was quoted as saying “We’re happy with the results of the lab tests. Someone else is unhappy.”

To me, this implies that the involved parties were briefed on the results and that this issue with the bag may have happened after the fact? Seems obvious that he’s suggesting someone on their side is trying to taint the results.

    • wreckinball

Don’t they keep the kit though? I agree nothing in that bag now is admissible in court. So the no DNA link to Kane story stays the same.
But I thought they would keep the kit at least unto the statute of limitations expires.

      • ItalianBeef

That, I do not know. I’m not nearly well enough informed on matters of the law & investigations to answer that.

        • wreckinball

If I’m wrong it means the whole cold case show was a fraud!

          • ItalianBeef

I am gripped with fear at the thought that all those hours of Law & Order were for nothing.

If the “leaked” DNA results can be proven to be legit, i.e. happened before the bag was stolen, then Kane can use the results to claim innocence.
If not it would seem this benefits the accuser since all we can say is there is no DNA evidence. Not that there was no Kane DNA evidence.
Might be the reverse of what folks think.
