    FWIW:

Mark Giangreco’s Buffalo Source Says Patrick Kane Is F*cked

There are also rumors out there that the alleged victim was told that there would be no charges filed. Coming from the alleged victim’s family and a LEO.

      • Source, please?

          Same website,
*edit* it specifies no rape charges, not necessarily no charges at all

So I just spent a chunk of time reading through all the different articles that site has on this topic. Holy crap! There are a lot of “trusted sources” for a lot of different people saying a lot of different things. I don’t know much more now than I did a half hour ago. (Though I’m much more open to conspiracy theories now….)

          • Jim

The site is sketchy, yellow tabloid. It’s the National Enquirer of Chicago Sports.

Yea, it seems there is a “verified” source stating for certain that the case is going in X direction for each possiblity. The thing that strikes me is how insistent they (sports mockery) seem to be that their source should be taken credibly, although for CYA purposes the website says they can’t be 100%.

Interesting. I wonder if Raanta figured he had been gifted the backup job when he signed the extension after his rookie year and felt that that loyalty had been betrayed. If that’s the case, then he needs to put on his big boy pants and realize that he still had to compete. To admit to pulling against your team is SHOCKING and I doubt this will play well in NY (although maybe he can share a snivel with Mr. Poo).

IMO, Raanta was undersized, he was serviceable for regular season fill in duty and mop up. In shootout situations, if Raanta was the goalie, you could pencil in a victory for the other team. Brutal in the shootout.

He always seemed the jovial, happy guy, but these comments were ill advised, and provide some insight for future employers.
If the Rangers demote him, is he going to cheer for the opponents?

Raanta now says he was misquoted. I hope that’s true.

          • Jim

Saw that, I believe he was misquoted also, or at that worst was momentarily venting to a local guy, and didn’t expect it to spread round the world. He seems like a good kid, and I hope he does well in NY.

I’d bet it was a combination of “lost in translation” and misquoted, something along the lines of “there was a part of me that would have been OK with the team getting swept because I was little angry about not playing” getting turned into “Screw my team I hate everyone”

That makes it a good contract

So Mark Giangreco just said on Waddle and Silvy that his “rock solid Buffalo source” who reported that the case was a “as close to a slam dunk” against Kane as it gets, has since called Mark and said that information that Mark reported was a few weeks old. Mark reported that the source not states that, according to the local authorities / legal community, are not saying that the “pendulum is changing” and that it is looking like Kane will probably not be charged after all.
