Toews: Yeah, I can do the fancy showboat stuff, but I’d rather concentrate on playing shut down D and winning cups.

    • Bannerman

maybe they just upgraded his targeting software. Toews bot 2.0

  • That is one helluva Photoshop effort in the Theo Fleury link/article.

3 on 3…..It’s a drill in practice. It’s a gimmick. I just don’t think it should decide hockey games. I don’t see how it’s a whole lot different than the shootout. #bringbackthetie #threepointsforawin

There are two kind of separate arguments here. The first is should ties be allowed. I say yes (sounds like you agree). But, the NHL is trying to attract the casual fan, who has little interest in the standings. So, I doubt they will ever go back to this.

If you aren’t going to allow ties, the second argument is what then should decide the win at the end of regulation. Not much is worse than a shootout. In this regard, 3-on-3 is an improvement—at least there’s some semblance of team play. I’d rather they do playoff format always, but that’s not going to fly with an 82 game season.

yay, kruger money. Versteeg and Nordy….meh….

      • Lionel Hutz

I never knew what to make of Nordy and I guess I’m relieved I don’t have to keep thinking about it. Steeger is a solid 3W at this point. He put up respectable numbers when playing with Kane because anybody should. Not because they’re playing styles are so similar.

        • Jim

The same tandem that caused the kerfluffle in Game 3 (I think) of the Anaheim series, when Q sat Vermett and Tivo.

Steeg was a nice player. It seemed like he didn’t bury that many of his chances. He was like a cloud of dust, and nothing. I’m not sorry to see him go.

Next problem, it was two LWers. Leaving us… Bickell, Desjardins, and assuming that Panarin will slot there?

          • HarryBalzonya

Panarin is a LW. Possible that Teuvo or Dano slide over to LW.

          • WookRN

Sure, but I’m counting on Teuvo centering. Toews-Anisamov-Teuvo-Kruger? yeah?

          • HarryBalzonya

Could see Shaw center the 3rd line. Or Tikhonev.

          • WookRN

Love Shaw. Own a Shaw sweater.

            HATE Shaw at center.

          • HarryBalzonya

Oh, I agree. But that doesn’t mean it won’t happen.

          • WookRN

            SCREW YOU…. STOP BEING RIGHT!

Yeah, you’re right. And I know NOTHING about Tikhonev. But I guess we at least have center options, Desjardins did some work there as well.

          • Lionel Hutz

How difficult is it to switch sides really? Aside from handedness, does that much change in responsibility? Hossa couldn’t flip over and have someone else take the RW spot on the top line?

          • WookRN

I don’t think that’s really an option, as I understand it. I hear it’s pretty hard.

      • HarryBalzonya

At the end of the day this isn’t a bad deal. Allows us to take on basically no salary without giving up too much. Nordstrom was okay but nothing that can’t be replaced. Much rather have Kruger than Steeg/Nordstrom.

  • Sopel the catfish

One year deal for Krugs, no idea about the $$

    • WookRN

That’s what I’m waiting on.. .what’s the tag. I mean, he’s worth it, I’m just curious.

  • GoldenJet

One less thing to worry about…this makes me happy! Now, maybe Bickell will actually play well enough to get traded during the season.

    • HarryBalzonya

Yeah, this should give us enough breathing room to resign Krugs and get into camp. Hopefully some team takes a look at their roster and realizes they could use Bickell and we won’t have to eat crap to get rid of him.

      • WookRN

Especially running short on the left wing right now…

  • B.I.G. Forever

    So….about this Kane thing…
