Love the Darling article. Just two weeks after the Cup win, most everything is regrettably Cap hits / RFA / next year / Stan sucks. With articles like that one, I can still enjoy the present, soak up the pleasure, and just be happy.

I’m trying my best to wait until Oct 7th to worry about next season.

We’ll see how Saad’s deal plays out. About the only guy that occurs to me who signed for a home town discount was Hjammer (although I guess Bickell could have probably gotten close to $5 mil per at the time). The only way Saad leaves is if he is offered crazy money which could happen, but

Much like Brad Richards, I’m still enjoying what happened two weeks ago! The Saad deal was never going to be easy & I am trying to see it from all angles. He’s a young kid who has won 2 Cups in 3 years. He’s reached the pinnacle of NHL hockey before his 23rd birthday. Can’t imagine what that ferls like but I’m afraid he’s going to take more $ and have less success. My gut says he stays but not with a bridge deal. Too many teams who need a young stud winger understand the financial position the Hawks are in and will look to exploit it. Come on Manchild, we want you back…..

$2.8mil is a laughable opening salvo from the team for Saad…Guess they had to give it the old college try.

If, somehow, the lowball offer leads to a deal under $4mil for more than two years, it’ll be genius.

I still think it’s going to be at least $4.5 for 4 years or so. Then, at 26, Saad will be primed for a huge deal that could take him back to Pittsburgh or other parts unknown.

    dafuq…Saad reported traded?

  • juniorgilb

Ooops! Bummer, but it’s a business.

  • GoldenJet

    WOW…just wow…I’m kinda heart broken…shocked for sure.

Rumor was offer sheet coming in the $6.5mil per range? That would probably put him about a million above the Hawks’ max they could possibly go.

Guess we’ll see if CBJ can sign him…Will he sign a bridge deal there and look for huge money from Pittsburgh in a couple years?
