I guess nothing Q does will ever shock me again, but if he’s not going with Vermette as the 2C or 3C, let alone cracking the four lines anywhere, then he’s a bigger idiot than I thought. I’m sure Bowman would be thrilled that the highly sought after guy he traded a top prospect and a first round pick for would sit on the bench come playoff time. Sure, he’s struggled, but he hasn’t been put in the best position by his coach, and I use the term coach loosely when it comes Quenneville. This is either a ploy by Q to get Vermette’s attention, which is stupid, or it’s yet another example of Q basically telling Stan to stick it. I think anything short of a Stanley Cup and we’ll have a new head coach next season.

Oh no need to be so dramatic.

I know I know 750 wins, 2 Cuos, but he still knows what he’s doing. He has his flaws and he has his strengths. Let’s see how it plays out. This is a damn good team and Vermette will slot in.

“This is either a ploy by Q to get Vermette’s attention, which is stupid”

Unless it “works” and Vermette has a big summer and adds to the legacy of The Quenneville Method

“or it’s yet another example of Q basically telling Stan to stick it”

Which just doesn’t make sense because Vermette should be Q’s wet dream.

Yet Kris Versteeg could probably take his skate off and try to stab someone and still not get scratched…

My dream… Darryl Sutter gets fired from the Kings, Q gets fired, and we pick up Sutter — a great former Hawk and much better coach.

So last year Q insisted on sending Handzus out at 2C despite a complete lack of production because he was defensively responsible. Now we have Vermette, who is one of the more defensively-responsible centers IN THE LEAGUE, and he is going to bench him because of a lack of production.

    What the ever-loving fuck?

Vermette is a minus 25. Case closed

He’s a -2 since joining the Hawks while being in a scoring slump. He is among the best faceoff guys in the league. He got Selke votes last year. I don’t get why we’d effectively put Shaw out in his place when “defensive responsibility” is your hallmark.
