That Minny-NoDak game was fun to watch. Crazy finish.

My biggest concern in playing the Blues rather than Colorado is there’s a higher headhunting potential from that roster than the Av’s. Otherwise, I think it could be an epic series that has my liver screaming for mercy. Second biggest concern is how many games I try to get to in St. Louis, now that I only live an hour and a half away..

    Playoffs are almost here!

    • pepe_silvia

I live in KC and I may want to try and go to a game if they end up playing each other.

But that would also require going to St. Louis. Blech.

      • ahnfire

Just get a tetanus shot before you go. And save up some bail money, just in case.

        • pepe_silvia

Done and done. I also got Jeremy Renner’s bomb suit from The Hurt Locker for extra protection.

          • chidiver

Don’t forget the body condom from Naked Gun.

          • Shooter

Don’t even think that’ll help with the std’s floating around st. louis

        • Bullitt315

Screw the tetanus shot, get your CCL.

          • 10thMountainFire

Jenny McCarthy told me not to get vaccines.

          • Joe DeTolve

            THIS!

          • ahnfire

yes, it’s all part of a social darwinism experiment.

          • 10thMountainFire

I learned it on the internets.

          • chidiver

            Check

    • BrandonPirri

Seeing as you can get tickets for under $40 right now, you’d be crazy not to. I’m trying to take a road trip down there now if the hawks play them. Paint St Louis red.

    • zacked

I’d much rather play the Avs, so I hope the Blues get their shit together and win the division now that we’re locked into third.

Partly because I think the Blues are a much better team than the Avs, but partly because the shitheel quotient is a lot higher, and the headhunters on the Blues might actually connect with someone.

      • YoAdrienne

That’s kind of my feeling about it, as well. Also, the Scum, Jr. likely still have their shorts in a wad over the fact that Mike Rupp took out Mr. American Hero® last night. I’d rather they’d take it out on the perps, rather than on the Hawks. Also, I wouldn’t mind seeing a Wild upset…

  • MattC86

Ok, I’ve been AWOL all week – Sorry!

DC Crew, I know there was chatter about going to the game tonight – I will be in 421 tonight with my boyfriend, my sister, and her boyfriend. Would be delighted to catch up with people for drinks before or after (though before might be a bit tough with work). XMF and Bob Lanz, you guys have my email (which also has my mobile #), please feel free to distribute to anybody else going. Would really love to catch up with everybody, not least since I’ve promised before to do so and have not.

    Matt

    • MySpoonIsTooBig

I’ll be in section 228 with my wife and a couple of close friends. I’ll also be at Rocket Bar before the game, and probably either back at Rocket Bar or the Green Turtle after the game.

      • MattC86

Last time I watched the Hawks at Rocket Bar, Corey Crawford got Boeddker’d in 2012 Playoffs, and I had to keep my Bruins fan roommate from getting into fights with Caps fans after the Caps eliminated the Bruins and all the “Caps Fans” were chanting “R-G-III” over and over again because they’d just pulled off the trade for the pick. . . sigh I hate Washington sometimes.

But regardless, Rocket Bar sounds better than Green Turtle, but can meet at either.

        • MySpoonIsTooBig

I love Rocket Bar, it’s my favorite bar in the Gallery Place / Chinatown area.

I think you’ve got my email address (at minimum XMF does). If you find your way to Rocket Bar before the game and you see a short guy with a goatee wearing a white Kane sweater with a 2013 SC champs patch and a black and white ‘Hawks hat that’s probably me. If it’s not me then I’ve got a doppleganger

          • ahnfire

I think you mean Chinablock. :P

          • MySpoonIsTooBig

There is absolutely nothing in the neighborhood that indicates you’re in Chinatown except for the giant arch on H street just east of 7th and the calligraphy on all of the store fronts despite the fact that none of them are Chinese shops or restaurants.

Basically what happened is that 30-40 years ago the neighborhood was a legitimate Chinatown, then it started gentrifying and the real estate prices shot up. None of the restaurants and shops could afford their rent there anymore and they all basically went out of business are were replaced by Irish Pubs, Spanish Tapas places, and other such not-even-remotely-Chinese establishments. Yet the neighborhood still wants to call itself Chinatown. It’s really bizarre.

          • zacked

I don’t think it really gentrified so much as the city forcibly dropped an arena and psuedo-mall there and the chain restaurants sprang up around that development. There are still plenty of Chinese places along H itself and some of the other sidestreets, unless things have changed drastically in the last two years.

          • 10thMountainFire

I’m just going to call my neighborhood ‘Mountainville’. Because who can stop me?

          • MattC86

I’ll have a Bolland 2010 SCF jersey and probably my “Fucking Right Chicago” shirt underneath, but I’ll keep a look out. Besides, “Are you ‘MySpoonIsTooBig?’” is guaranteed to be a popular conversation starter.

          • birdhead

u guys this is 2014 just send each other some selfies

          • 10thMountainFire

            What? No snapchat?

          • 10thMountainFire

            NO!

          • birdhead

            but it’s so practical!

          • 10thMountainFire

I should probably just link up with a few of the regulars via FB. That would make things much easier. I use it pretty much just for IR news, etc. But it makes photos easier.

          • birdhead

I don’t understand Facebook. I have to use it for work and it’s OK for keeping up with the cousins but …

          • 10thMountainFire

I simply post stories for the blog site we run.

          • Z-man19

good lord, no one wants to see your privates, just your face, lord knows how many people call themselves XMF

          • 10thMountainFire

If there are two of us, there is one too many.

Though I recently considered changing the screen name to ‘XMF’.

          • Bob Lanz

            Good point

          • 10thMountainFire

My favorite bar is in my refrigerator.

    • 10thMountainFire

Sounds good. I’ll be with two friends as well. I know MSITB is going, as is putmeinthemadhouse. Bob also mentioned that he may try to come. Saw you emailed. I’ll be replying shortly…

Ill be im 217 with dad and brother. Dad has a qstache, brothrr a white saad jersey, I a red hossa and dreads.

Matty! Enjoy the game XMF is going have a drink for me boys! Flight was too expensive on my meager government salary. Hope to see you guys for the playoffs. Rainbow wishes and caviar dreams my frents!

  • MySpoonIsTooBig

So now that BC’s season is over, do we think K. Hayes is going to jump ship to sign his ELC and join the Ice Hogs for the rest of their season / playoff push? He was a senior this year wasn’t he?

    • MattC86

That was the assumption of Block and some others. I’m really excited for Hayes, both because of nickname potential (Captain Stairwell and endless poop jokes) and because he was part of the most potent line in college hockey, so . . . .

      • zacked

I think Hubby-Dubby was probably the engine on that line, though it never hurts to have a 6’4″ winger on your side. I was never crazy about him as a first-round (albeit 24th overall) pick, but I’d be delighted to be proven wrong.

Huh, apparently he’s cousins with both Tom Fitzgerald and Keith Tkachuk.

        • lizmcneill

yeah, when your linemate’s nickname is “Johnny Hockey”….

        • MySpoonIsTooBig

Wasn’t he the 30th overall pick? I thought the ‘Hawks grabbed him with the last pick of the 2010 first round…

          • zacked

So did I! But they got him with a NJ pick that was part of the everybody to Atlanta trade that also netted Morin. And Justin Holl, who is playing for the Gophers now.

They actually traded the 30th pick down to the Islanders for two seconds that netted Kent Simpson and Ludwig Rensfeldt (remember him? he’s putting up 0.3PPG in the Swedish 2nd tier).

          • lizmcneill

The Jimmy was acquired for a pick that became one Bradley Ross, now apparently playing in Germany.

I had thought he came with Stals, but no. Toronto turned Steeg into Stuart Percy and Josh Leivo, who I think are still with the Marlies. Philly turned him into Pavel Kubine (now out of the league) and Shayne Gostisbehere (playing for Union College, booo). And Florida turned him into Jimmy and Olsen, ofc.

  • ahnfire

Hey all – just in case, everyone might want to update their disQus password b/c of the heartbleed bug.

    • Paul the Fossil

I was figuring that the best revenge on a phisher would be letting him log into Disqus and try to do something. A half-hour or so later the neighbors in some anonymous Russian apartment block would hear a scream of rage followed by a gunshot and the sound of a computer screen shattering.

      • 10thMountainFire

Or he steps in here and makes a decidedly un-Paul the Fossil like comment, rendering him obviously an enemy of the hive, we attack, he leaves and never returns to Disqus or TCI.

        • Paul the Fossil

Excellent. Some keywords/phrases to watch out for would be:
          “Milbury has a point”
“did you ever play the game?”
“trade Kane/Seabrook/Crawford/Oduya while we still can”
“shots only matter if they go in”
          “glove hand”
          “eye-test”
“Anyone can scream at me about the stats and I know some will”

          • 10thMountainFire

            ‘Seabrook sucks.’

          • roadhog

Damn, I use “eye-test” all the time.

          • Paul the Fossil

Actually I used to myself but this season’s Seabrook meatheadedness has ruined it. It’s like, until a few years ago I would have sometimes been saying out loud that the Hawks needed to be throwing the body more until spending a couple seasons in the 300 level listening to meatballs scream at Campbell.

          • Bullitt315

There’s a nice middle ground between meatball and grass fed organic meatball.

          • Hawkeytalk

What the hell is a Corsi?

          • Fleshrifle

“The Bollig contract will seem cheap in 2015″

        • Bullitt315

“we attack, he leaves and never returns to Disqus or TCI.”

Haha, Like that ever happens. They always return.

          • 10thMountainFire

In crisis. In the woods. Cookiemonster told me.

    • YoAdrienne

The tech guys on my local NPR station suggest waiting at least few days before changing all of one’s passwords. They say “the barn door is still open”, and it’s still going to take some time folks like disQus, banks, etc. get things patched up on their end. In other words, your new passwords are likely just as vulnerable right now. But, they did stress that it’s a really, really, really, really good idea to change them…

      • CozBullsFan

Exactly. Even then, you don’t need to go changing every single password you have. Email, banks, social sites, and any site you regularly make online purchases at. I won’t change my Disqus password. You could find out more about me through a google search than you could through my Disqus profile.

        • lizmcneill

Yeah. The only sites where strong, unique passwords are really needed are 1) any sites that hold your financial information (paypal, amazon, etc) 2) sites that are used as federated identity providers (google, facebook, twitter)
Logins you only use to post gifs of cats or rant about hockey are fine with a generic password because it’s not the end of the world if they’re exposed.

  • Paul the Fossil

A shorty with less than a second left to lose the national semi-final? Amazing for Minnesota but you gotta feel for the ND goalie, he’s never going to completely get over that one whether or not he was particularly at fault.

Meanwhile my longtime rec league co-captain is making no plans for Saturday night since he attended Union College and played there a bit when it was a Division III program.

    • Paul the Fossil

Which, upon watching the replay, it absolutely wasn’t (the goalie’s fault). A one-in-a-thousand unstoppable shot from a player who hadn’t scored a goal during this entire season.

      • Bullitt315

        It’s always the goalies fault!

      • Bob Lanz

That player: Justin Holl blackhawk prospect baby

        • neo1978

Whose rumored to be a player the Hawks are not going to sign…

          • Bob Lanz

Really? Why did we draft him? I’m confused I guess we don’t sign everyone we draft huh?

          • neo1978

Kid is drafted at 18 in the hopes that they will develop enough to be actual NHL players in the future. For a kid that goes to college for 4 years, Teams can watch the kid’s development and see if he is meeting their expectations. If not, those kids don’t get signed when their college eligibility is done.

Same with Euro kids signed to Euro contracts. Team doesn’t sign them until those contracts are completed. And Teams will often decide during that time to not sign those players when they become available. Ludvig Rensfeldt comes to mind, who btw, was also in that draft.

          • lizmcneill

Because we’re only allowed 50 pro contracts, almost half of which are needed for the big team. Stan probably drafts at 8+ kids a year, given his love of stockpiling mid-round picks.

          • zacked

He’s not much of a prospect.

  • roadhog

    Shanny to the Leafs ay?

    • wowwowweewoo

I kind of think it’s a dirtball move to abandon the player safety position coming right into the playoffs, where some really tough decisions might have to be made.

      • CozBullsFan

It’s Shanny. He isn’t exactly the classiest guy in the world.

  • BrandonPirri

Nathan Horton’s out until essentially the Stanley Cup Finals.

  • jordyhawk

Young Avs have a lot of that same swagger we had 5 years ago. TT had better be good, because with Duchene and MacKinnon they are going to be for a long time. I wouldn’t mind playing them first just because both teams will stick to hockey.

    • lizmcneill

Duchene is 2 years younger than Kaner. ROR is 3 years younger than Toews. Landeskog is the same age as Saad, McKinnon is a year younger than Teukka.

      No pressure, bbHawks.

      • jordyhawk

Yikes! Tyson Barrie scored winner again last night. He moves really well; like Rafalski or something like that. Add him to that list.

        • lizmcneill

Has he been playing forward some?

Leddy’s draft. Thinking of it, it’s pretty surprising that Q hasn’t tried Led Dawg at wing at some point, or has he?

          • M7

I don’t think he’s got enough touch below the circles (in the offensive zone) to be effective IMO. Also, although fast – he kind of lacks the trade mark quickness that he’d need as an undersized forward.

    • zacked

On the other hand, Hedja is 35 and I think Erik Johnson is almost as overrated as Jack Johnson, and I don’t think they have any top-tier defense prospects on the way up. Tyson Barrie is highly regarded, and has done well in sheltered minutes.

I think the Wild and Stars have a better projection for the immediate future, though MacKinnon could end up a real difference maker.

      • Fleshrifle

Hejda & Johnson. Your first line of Defense

        • Paul the Fossil

          Dammit I can’t now un-see that.

    • Z-man19

I’m still not convinced they have long term success written all over them. Yes their F’s are very good and fast, but their D isn’t great and leaning that much on goaltending is a crap shoot year to year. They add some D help and reverse some of their possession numbers, yeah, they could be good for a long time. Until then, I’ll believe they can sustain this level year to year when I see it.

      • laaarmer

They have Roy. He’s so calm.

        • Z-man19

          not as calm as you

          • laaarmer

I am the calmest of calm

          • Fleshrifle

Newsest scenario for a nuclear winter…
laarmer and Roy become neighbors. 9″ of grass between them becomes a property dispute

          • 10thMountainFire

Make that a reality TV show and I would watch.

          • laaarmer

Roy would never survive a yard war against me.

          • 10thMountainFire

I should probably advise you that a lawnmower can be classified as a weapon.

          • laaarmer

I love that mayhem ad where he is mowing the lawn. When he drives over the rocks and the blast the house and car. It cracks me up

          • 10thMountainFire

All those mayhem commercials are gold.

      • jordyhawk

Yes, they need to add on defense but the guys up front are top-end talent that few teams could match. They will also have some cap room. No guarantees (and they’re getting all the bounces these days), but I see them as our biggest opponent over the next 5 years.

  • laaarmer

Couple goals scored or a couple goals not allowed and our guys are in the thick of the conference race.
Somebody stated the difference between Niemi and Crawford ans 1.7 goals for the season, and well, that’s the difference between home ice and going on the road. It matters

    • MySpoonIsTooBig

Niemi’s been hot garbage for SJ of late…

      • laaarmer

maybe. But as we have discussed, it’s not because of him, it’s his teammates.

        • MattC86

Did you see the goals he gave up the other night? It’s not just his teammates.

          • laaarmer

What about two of Crawford’s latest?
Goalies are allowed to make some mistakes.

          • MattC86

Oh they are, Crow has given up (and undoubtedly will continue to give up) some world-class stinkers.

Yes, the Hawks are a better defensive team than the Sha-arks, and ever-so-slightly ahead in 5v5 Fenwick Close, but I do like this comparison:

            Goalie A: 58GP 32-15-10, 2.22, .918, 2 Shutouts
            Goalie B: 63GP, 38-17-7, 2.40, .912, 4 Shutouts

      • Fleshrifle

Wait what!!? San Jose finishing up a strong regular season on a downer heading into April & May?!!? CRAZY. Never seen that before.

            I love you

          • 10thMountainFire

Everything that you post has been ridiculous. All of it. In fact, during the game against Montreal, we got to witness your angsty and melodramatic analytical failures in real time. Yet here you are, saying the same stuff, thinking you’re a meme.

Out of respect for ahn and the rest here, I’ll just go ahead and disengage. But you should know that your original comment about ‘ribbons’ is why I don’t like you… not because I’m antagonistic. You’re just useless here.

          • ToewsCheatCode

You mean the snarky jab I dished out in response to one of your own?

So basically you’re admitting to being willing to give but not take. I’m shocked.

And nothing I said in the Montreal game proved to be untrue. Crawford made some good saves to end the game, doesn’t change the fact that he didn’t even attempt to fight and find the puck through the screen, leading to a potentially killer goal a mere 22 seconds after the Hawks had clawed and scratched to tie it up.

The fact that he got his shit together after the fact doesn’t change the fact he failed spectacularly on that play.

          • laaarmer

            yeah, no.

          • ahnfire

True. But try to limit the amount of them you post, please. I know you like to post yawning gifs, but once is fine. You can simply ignore & not respond to other comments you’d want to leave those gifs at.

disQus can only take so much before it inevitably breaks.

          • ToewsCheatCode

K, I’ll refrain from posting them as frequently.

BTW, if I flag posts for unnecessary hostility or personal attacks, does that actually do anything?

          • lizmcneill

No, Disqus took away our fun. The downboats, they do nothing!

          • Bob Lanz

Dude X is a great guy and very passionate about our Hawks. He usually is not the instigator of insults you seem to take a shot every chance you get. Now you have been asked politely several times to back it down. Try and do so as the playoffs approach. You may disagree with X but if you can ease off your bullshit you may find you share more in common than not.

I can’t recall the conversion off the top of my head, but I’m pretty sure two goals is worth only a single standings point, not enough for home ice.

      • laaarmer

Well, if we were to tie one of the current teams and we had an additional standing point, it woudln’t be a tie.
        /numberd

        • zacked

          Not sure I follow, we’re 4 points behind, so 1 wouldn’t be a tie.

          • laaarmer

if we WERE to tie. ie. finish with the same points or so you can understand. 111.

      • neo1978

Three goals -> on average <- is usually considered to give an extra win.

        • laaarmer

          ITS FRIDAY!

          • laaarmer

So you have to win by 3 in OT to get the extra point. Good to know.

          • neo1978

            Strawman

          • laaarmer

If you only had a brain

        • zacked

          Thanks.

    • 10thMountainFire

A couple of OT goals, or even better, a few timely late-game meltdowns avoided, and we’re not talking about goals against. We’re talking about a team with fewer shootout losses and a goaltender with an even better GAA and SV%.

      • laaarmer

Yep coupe, additional and a couple less in and ……

        • 10thMountainFire

The first two games against St. Louis weren’t the result of Crow… breakdowns, lack of aggressive third period play by both the blue line and skaters up front, and the game at the UC v Calgary where the Hawks allowed the Flames to stay in the game were not Crow’s fault.

          • laaarmer

Never said anything was Crawford’s fault.
What I’m getting at is opportunity squandered.
I’m not talking about anything drastic.
Couple goals allowed less and a couple more scored.

          • 10thMountainFire

Sorry. I believe what I just did was a pre-emptive strike on The Code. I should have been more explicit… wasn’t speaking about you with my comment.

          • laaarmer

            You are cheating!

          • 10thMountainFire

Well I can’t take that level of dumb on a Friday. It’s getting so that even the anticipation makes me go rinse my eyes with bleach.

          • laaarmer

What if we trade Keith and Seabrook for Semin and Ovechkin?

          • 10thMountainFire

Still wouldn’t solve the problem of Crow… who apparently had a phenomenally awful game against the Habs. Until the game was over.

          • laaarmer

He sucked. Worse than Pang. If Balfore was playing it would have been a shudout

          • 10thMountainFire

Belfour would have punched Crow in the locker room before they even went out for warm ups.

          • laaarmer

            After he ran a marathon.
Remember that bullshit? “How can he play goalie if he’s working out so much?”

          • 10thMountainFire

And won a drag race. A Triathlon drag race. Drunk.

          • laaarmer

            But we should trade Hasek.

          • 10thMountainFire

            And then Belfour, anyway.

          • laaarmer

            Gilis?

          • 10thMountainFire

            Pully.

          • 10thMountainFire

Actually, it was Murray, wasn’t it?

      • Paul the Fossil

All true. Though that’s true most years for most NHL playoff teams nowadays — outside of a handful of sad-sack franchises like Florida and Edmonton the league has become so competitive. E.g. DLR-level blowouts are much rarer than they used to be other than during the Dead Puck decade that ended with the 04-05 lockout. Literally a dozen teams could right now say pretty much the same thing as far as just a few goals for/against making the difference in where they are finishing the season.

        • laaarmer

Who cares about those other teams?
          I’m talking about our team!

          • 10thMountainFire

            ‘We like our people.’

            /Cliff’d

        • 10thMountainFire

          Agreed.

    • lizmcneill

      Actually, not this year. Crow’s got a .918 and Nemo a .912. And a win’s closer to 5 or 6 goals than 2.

  • ChicagoNativeSon

From this week’s NHL.com Super 16 power rankings (Blackhawks ranked 3rd behind BOS and SJS – and ahead of STL by the way):

    3. Chicago Blackhawks (46-19-15) LW: 6

MVP: Each of the Blackhawks’ six world-class players (6?? They must be talking about Hjammer) had great seasons, but captain Jonathan Toews did it all before he got hurt. He led Chicago in CF% despite also facing the toughest competition, he won 57 percent of a ton of faceoffs, and he had 28 goals and 66 points in 76 games.

Surprise: Brandon Saad took a nice step forward in his sophomore season, and he and Teuvo Teravainen are going to be nice complements to the big four up front in the next couple of seasons. Saad only has one goal since Feb. 1, but he’s still been solid in possession and looks like he might develop into an elite two-way player.

Disappointment: Here’s another spot where advanced statistics has an answer for a curious occurrence. Bryan Bickell had a huge postseason and scored a hefty contract in the offseason. He has 11 goals and three assists this season, and his playing time has fluctuated greatly. Bickell has not been bad this season. He’s been terribly unlucky at times.

Bickell’s CF% (57.8) is among the best on a roster loaded with strong possession players, but his PDO (the team’s shooting percentage plus save percentage when he’s on the ice) is a comically low 95.6. The team is only shooting worse when Michal Handzus is on the ice and the goalies are stopping the puck better for everyone else. That’s a fluke, and don’t be surprised if he magically becomes a “playoff performer” again this spring.

    • 10thMountainFire

Zus, Bickell, Versteeg, Smith… secret post season weapons? Morin?

      • raditzzzz

        whos ya druce!?!?!

        sorry, getting ahead of myself…

        • 10thMountainFire

          Saad!

Though Smith, Morin, Zus, and Versteeg could be Druce Deuce. And watch Bickell.

          • laaarmer

            Kane and Toews.

          • 10thMountainFire

            Q.

        • Bullitt315

Bollig. Mostly because I look forward to the 10 articles claiming he still sucks if he is the druce.

        • red palace

          Crow

    • laaarmer

Toews, kane, Hossa, Sharp, Keith, Hjammer. Yes, that has to be it.

  • bizarrohairhelmet

If you don’t believe Crow is lazy, here’s a pic of the puck on its way to becoming the 2nd Habs goal. See, if he would have just fought through the screen and tried looking around it, he’d have easily made the save. This is the goalie we have to rely on for the playoffs?

    • laaarmer

Is it firefox or does everybody have to refresh the page to see new photos?
      Maybe adblock?

      • bizarrohairhelmet

Maybe because I used the pic loader instead of posting a link?

        • laaarmer

It’s for both. I see nothing until I refresh when you use the pic loader and I see a link (red) but no pic for the other. Not really a huge deal. I still can’t see the pic you posted up there and the next time I refresh will be the pre-game.

          • bizarrohairhelmet

with a link you can right-click load into new window

          • laaarmer

Yep, I do that. I want to see your porn photo above!

    • ToewsCheatCode

Wow. A carefully selected still image. That couldn’t possibly misrepresent anything.

Watch the full clip of the play in action and tell me he actually fights to see through the screen or follow the puck.

      • laaarmer

I wonder if I can use adblock

      • CozBullsFan

Or you’re just butt hurt that he proved your ranting wrong.

        • ToewsCheatCode

          Nope.

    • laaarmer

This play, it’s all about the isolation of Bollig. He runs at the guy on the boards, leaving the goal scorer with a lane to shoot. Crawford could have been better, but I’ll be he knew the shot was coming, but never saw it.
If Bollig doesn’t over commit, the shot probably doesn’t even happen. They may have scored another way, of course, but we can never know that.

2 goals allowed on 30 shots. Still a good showing by the goalie.

      • bizarrohairhelmet

If you watch the video (which I couldn’t link in any kind of useable way), just before the shot, as the puck is getting back to Bouillion, Crow very clearly moves rapidly side to side to get a look and then sets himself because he knows the shot is coming. He can’t come out further or it would be a tap-in pass and he clearly has no recourse with moving the players in front of him.

It’s because he’s so lazy that he’s caught out of position here. Now, I’m not a goalie, but obviously Crow can do something here to set himself up for the shot that just went through Kruger’s legs at 90 mph. I don’t know what it is, but Crow should.

        • laaarmer

He should stop the shot. that’s his job. He did stop 28 of 30 though, and he did it while sleeping

        • Bullitt315

Kruger should have blocked it. Blame Kruger!

          • laaarmer

It looks like a rod hockey game doesn’t it?

          • bizarrohairhelmet

It does, including how far the players are away from the goalie

        • ToewsCheatCode

Then we’re clearly seeing different things. I see the goalie following the puck as it was passed cross the ice, then standing still, making no effort to look around/below/above the players in front of him and standing perfectly still as a shot he didn’t even released sailed through him.

          But you know:

Sunspots. Chemtrails. GMOs. Alien satellites. Anything but the goalie.

      • pepe_silvia

I love Crow. If he continues to give up 2 goals a game, the Hawks will make the playoffs every year with this team. They have such a great defense that it’s not worth spending a ton of cash to get an “elite” goaltender. I don’t get why more people don’t understand this.

        We like our people.

        • zacked

Starting next year, they’re paying Crawford like an elite goalie. 6th highest hit for a ‘tender.

      • M7

It wasn’t Bollig, it was Nordstrom but your point is still 100% valid.

        EDIT: here’s a link http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?hlg=20132014,2,1190&lang=en

Now that the Finnish Dragon is an icehog how do I get those games. Someone turn me onto Rockford viewing capabilities please! Calder cup here we come!

    • Arctic Ice

      Try firstrowsports.

    • ahnfire

You usually can’t view the AHL games because they’re not often televised. Best you can do is go to ahllive.com – you can usually get the Hogs radio call. Although if they make it into the playoffs, they might get streamed online.
