    ENTER THE DRAGON!

  • MySpoonIsTooBig

It’s official, Kane on LTIR and TiVo Targaryen and Jeremy Morin have been recalled

    • 10thMountainFire

Let’s see what they can do. All-out, boys.

    • Joe Banks

Very happily surprised by this. Not only Tayvo Terra, but Morin too?
      BONUS!!!
(facepalm while viewership of morning skate goes viral)

      • raditzzzz

i guess it all worked out. (except for that part about kane being injured for three weeks)

if tt hacks it, what are we projecting for the playoffs? saad-toews-kane, sharp-tt-hossa?

        • LavalPhantom

What I would like to see:
          Bickell-Toews-Kane
          Sharp-TT-Hossa
          Saad-Shaw-Versteeeg
          Smith-Kruger-Bollig (Morin-Regin-Handzus)

          • raditzzzz

i could see that developing. especially if bicks has a repeat performance.

watch out, tho. you might get an arrow to the knee for mentioning bollig…

          • VerStig

I feel like Q is unlikely to bench Handzus unless he really screws the pooch

          • LavalPhantom

I actually only included Bollig because I know for sure he will be there, but I would definitely prefer Morin in his spot.
I could see Handzus sitting for a few games kind of like Mayers last year but only maybe half the games.

    • Sparky_The_Bard-barian

Let’s see how long either or both stick once Bicks and Saad are fully in the clear.

  • lizmcneill

Quenneville said he wasn't sure Bickell would play tonight. Said it wasn't anything serious.— Scott Powers (@ESPNChiPowers) March 21, 2014

    Welp, they’re dropping like flies….

    • Joe Banks

      As TMFF would say, FML

    • raditzzzz

any silver lining? at least we aren’t playing a central team tonight?

      • lizmcneill

Saad is skating and not yet ruled out for tonight.

        • raditzzzz

          niiiiice

    • BrandonPirri’s Corpse

Bickell finished the game on Wednesday, so it’s probably just bad enough where he could use the rest and give Morin an opportunity. But he’s not incapacitated.

    • VerStig

A mild case of the doghouse?

      • Bullitt315

After how BIckell played last game, I doubt it.

    • Sparky_The_Bard-barian

      Is he hurt?

      Q: No, I just don’t like him.

  • Sparky_The_Bard-barian

Hemsky… rejuvenated since a trade from the Edmonton Oilers

    Yeah, I can see that.

    • ballyb11

      Yes.

      And Kane like.

  • ChicagoNativeSon

It’s also the easiest way to train them to stay in net…

    • lizmcneill

      It’s a Mouseketeer-trap!

    • Sparky_The_Bard-barian

      Score on that, bitches.

      • ChicagoNativeSon

Heh. My original caption was “Come at me, bros!”

      • VanDorp’sMullet

That’s probably the strategy that Raanta should use during shootouts.

  • Beans

If only GRRM would come out with the new book having the Targaryens invade westeros at the same time as Teuvo invading the US, that would be awesome. On the bright side, season 4 starts April 4!

  • ballyb11

I think this Morin thing was planned all along. Let him play and progress in AHL, then on to Chicago.

    • ChicagoNativeSon

Wha? A stacked team up – against the cap – using the developmental league for… wait for it… player development and not calling up every decent prospect the moment “adversity” strikes, or the team doesn’t live up to lofty fan expectations??

      Get the fuck outta here!

I don’t know why fans can’t temper expectations. We’re doing insanely well for a rebuilding year.

        • ballyb11

You people know the league much, much better than I. Is there a team even in second place as far as talent on the roster, top to bottom?

          • ballyb11

            That’s what I thought.

          • bizarrohairhelmet

“You people”? What is that supposed to mean?

          • ballyb11

The people that “know the league much, much better than I.” Assume you do.

          • bizarrohairhelmet

Oh no you didn’t. That’s some right fanist language right there.

            And alcoholics.

          • 10thMountainFire

St. Louis is comparable. Maybe Boston. I don’t think, top to bottom, any other team rivals the Hawks in pure talent.

          • http://www.lotsofbutterplease.com/ I am not Chico Maki

I’d add San Jose and LA to XMF’s Boston and St Louis below. (I posted that earlier … I guess it didn’t take.)

          • bizarrohairhelmet

Yup…the closest is Pet Food Scum, but they just don’t have the offense to match.

        • Sparky_The_Bard-barian

Retooling year. 2011 was a rebuilding year.

          • raditzzzz
          • VanDorp’sMullet

That, unfortunately, was the highlight of Turco’s Blackhawks career.

          • VanDorp’sMullet

You win and so do all of us.

          • bizarrohairhelmet

They’re both great. The 2010 team had a good mix of guys that could provide levity, as did last year’s team and this year’s. Turco was just off a year or two. Plus he kind of sucked his last pro year or two.

        • 10thMountainFire

I see what you did there…

  • Paul the Fossil

Regarding that Score article, the Hawks are blessed with players who have some size and bring plenty of physicality — who are well-acquainted with the “high traffic areas” on a nightly basis — but manage to not put the team shorthanded very often while doing it. Hossa, Saad, Seabrook, Toews all come to mind in this regard.

    • ballyb11

High traffic areas, this Shaw is a fucking warrior.

      • Paul the Fossil

True but I excluded him from this particular comment because he does commit penalties while doing it.

  • 10thMountainFire

    GAAD IS SKATING.

    • VanDorp’sMullet

      Gaad is good. Amen.

  • putmeinthemadhouse

Oreilly is also top 3 in takeaways. With 0 PIM. Thats remarkable.

    • VerStig

I think Pat might’ve pointed this out the other day? Or I could be mistaken.

      • putmeinthemadhouse

not sure, i havent heard a foley called game in a few.

    • VanDorp’sMullet

He is shooting up my list of players who I wish the Hawks had.

      • lizmcneill

        Olsen. Bah.

      • jordyhawk

No kidding. Lose track of this guy and he will kill you. (Just to add, as I posted last week our very own Benny, who plays an equally aggressive game, has only 2 pim this year. Keep up the good work Benny.)

      • M7

Yeah, Feaster’s a bit of a tit – but he was definitely directing his attention at the right kind of player the Flames need (and all teams, really) when he offer-sheeted him last season. I think the $6mil might have been a bit much at the time, but… maybe not.
Having said that it was still comical that O’Reilly would’ve had to clear waivers had the Avs not matched.

  • ChicagoNativeSon

I’m pretty sure the lack of defense exemplified by Godas on that Hemsky goal was one of the main reasons for Hossaland Slovakia breaking away from the Czech Republic.

Keep your eyes on the skater, kid. Not the puck.

  • Paul the Fossil

The regression continues in Anaheim, lost again last night and fell behind the Sharks. It’s a lot like how March went for them a year ago (followed by a highly-disappointing April). What is it about Boudreau as a head coach that his teams are so good until the springtime but then they aren’t?

    • Sparky_The_Bard-barian

He no longer has Ovie to blame.

    • zacked

The question I would ask is “what is it about Boudreau that he keeps taking these thoroughly mediocre teams to the playoffs”?

I watched half of the ANA-SJS game last night, and like every time I watch the Ducks, I just don’t see any there there. But then I did pass out halfway through it, stupid 10:30 starts.

    23-19-81
    10-26-65
    12-28-11
    52-16-17

(Looking forward to seeing J-Mo again).

    • VerStig

Ugh not liking that 4th line (Frogger excepted)

    • MySpoonIsTooBig

That was before TT took the ice. There’s also still the possibility that Saad and/or Bickell suits up tonight, though I don’t know how likely or unlikely either of them actually are. Point is, those lines might not match what we actually see tonight

    • 10thMountainFire

      No Saad? No good.

    • zacked

For a second I was really confused why John Madden was in warmups. And why his nickname was J-Mo.

      • jordyhawk

Q called him Mo this morning. Maybe they are buddies now (or at least until Morin makes a mistake or hits 7 minutes of ice time).

    • SuperHawk27

Yay!! More Brookbank at forward!!! Cant wait …*shoots self in head*

    • laaarmer

Can’t wait to see the Dragon, but definitely hard to argue against Q’s decision not to play him tonight. Kid just got in from Finland last night – maybe he should acclimate, get over the jet lag, and have more than a single 20 minute skate with his new teammates before being thrown to the NHL wolves?

      • BrandonPirri’s Corpse

Seriously, he’s probably been up since 3am. Give him the weekend, and get ready for Nashville on Sunday.

Note: this might be ridiculously optimistic.

        • bizarrohairhelmet

What a rude pro entry that will be. Small ice and trapping defense.

          • VerStig

Yeah was just thinking that. Bad timing aside, the struggling ‘Canes wouldn’t have been a bad place to start.

          • Waylon

if he can avoid Weber that would be nice.

  • Beans

If teuvo doesn’t average at least 3 hits a game, he’s a bust

        • red palace

Ha, you are correct. It was an absorbing article, it led me to look up one thing, which led me to look up another…..and I guess I ended up rather far afield. Can you tell me, where’s the nearest gas station?

  • 10thMountainFire
