Bob Murray living in the Angels and Dodgers backyard has clearly influenced his decision making. There’s 4 days off after Wednesday’s game. You think Bolland could just stay behind and maybe pull a Ralph Cifaretto on ole Bobby?

I like that Rozsival doesn’t get why Seabrook is called “Biscuit”.

By the way, has anyone noticed Kane getting a little fiestier this year – pushing back after post whistle scrums?

      • justforkicks

        yes

  • wardrums

After perusing 30 thoughts, it seems that there aren’t a lot of “savior” type options as the trade deadline approaches.

By the way, last night as I hit the hay a pleasant thought crossed my mind. We are a very, very good hockey team. Even though we’ve had tremendous success so far this season, in the back of my mind I questioned if some of it was just luck.
Will someone explain to me why O’Byrne(?) didn’t get a five minute major for crosschecking, and drawing blood, Saad in the face?

After watching last night’s game I had to upgrade us from very good to very, very good. They may get three very’s, (the highest ranking in the Wardrums classification system), with a win in Disneyworld tomorrow.

    • justforkicks

because they are blind? i was seriously baffled by that miss.

      • TheFullAmonte

Me too. It was so obvious with the puck right there as Saad was chopping at it towards goal. I yelled a lot at my TV as soon as I saw it happen, but to no avail.

        • justforkicks

exactly. and he’s laid out on the ice, and nothing. might have been bleeding to. i don’t understand how that was missed, pretty sure there was someone right there.

          • MySpoonIsTooBig

Oh he was definitely bleeding, the broadcast showed one of the trainers mopping the blood off his lower lip as soon as he got back to the bench

          • DesertHawk

Looked like his tongue got cut too.

          • MySpoonIsTooBig

I dunno exactly which parts of his face were bleeding, I just know I saw blood

      • wardrums

I’m thinking it’s more along the lines that the refs were thinking, “It’s just not fair to give the hawks a man advantage at this point. It’s just not fair.”

        • justforkicks

i hope the league reviewed it and were like wtf. i get that they didn’t ref anywhere during the lockout, but at this point they should be up to speed. Refs need to review the rule book, get their eyes checked, and call the right fucking things. this is how guys get hurt.

          • AMR

In the GM meeting they are going to talk about the officiating or more precisely the inconsistent officiating that has been going on this year

          • bizarrohairhelmet

Oh, good. If there’s one thing the GM’s can do as a collective, it’s lay down some laws that make sense and clear up how the league operates. Which reminds me, I haven’t checked out the Southeast division teams lately. Think I ‘ll go see who is even in that division…

    • Skags

Agreed. I’ve put a couple “litmus tests” out there and the Hawks answer the bell, time and time again. This team is freaking good. Really, really good. A win manana and they get an extra really.

  • laaarmer

    Draught or Extra Stout?

That is the question for you all today.

    • Accipiter

      I mix them.

        • laaarmer

Extra Stout for me. Since I’m not in a bar at the moment, the draught is too flat.

          • 10thMountainFire

            I lean to Stout.

          • Accipiter

30 thoughts. No mention of the Blackhawks.

    • mad-hatter

there’s only so many ways you can say “Please have mercy on our souls, Hawks.”

    • DesertHawk

I can’t recall seeing him mention us all season.

      • mad-hatter

he’s mentioned us a couple times. here’s just two weeks ago:

“20. The Blackhawks’ 19-0-3 record is
spectacular, but what really stands out to opponents is their incredible
pace. In a season where players and teams are slowing down because of
injuries and schedule fatigue, Chicago continues to push it. Health is
obviously critical, but right now, they have the mix everyone wants:
their best players are outstanding and their young players — Nick
Leddy, Brandon Saad, Andrew Shaw — can stay with them.”

      • bizarrohairhelmet

I can’t recall reading his list all season.

        • DesertHawk

When they’re posted I read them. I do remember reading the list mad-hatter references below, but that’s still the only time I can recall. He seems to be GM/East Coast centric.

          • mad-hatter

As is the rest of the league. And that’s really the only time he does mention them. Actually I remember being angry because no one was talking about the Hawks really until they reached 19 straight, though if it were the Pens they’d be salivating earlier.

          • DesertHawk

Yeah I had the same feeling, on the 30 thoughts the week prior. The east-centric ness of the league is quite frustrating

          • mad-hatter

It’s only going to get worse next year. Oh happy days.

          • DesertHawk

            Sadly.

I was just going to post this. The Blackhawks… they’re kind of big deal.

    • DesertHawk

Why did a judge have to ok the sale of that? The other company no longer exists.

      • AMR

They went into bankruptcy, so a judge approves the sale so that any creditors can be paid. Basically the judge makes sure the sale price is the highest it can be.

        • DesertHawk

          Ah.

  • DesertHawk

Horribly off topic, but I think XMF might find this interesting as it involves his old division. http://www.cnn.com/interactive/2013/03/world/baby-noor/index.html?hpt=hp_c2

    • DesertHawk

Be warned if you read this you might find that the room you’re in has spontaneously developed onions mid chopping.

      • Accipiter

What if you chop onions correctly and the affect you are describing doesn’t occur ?

        • DesertHawk

Spontaneously developed mid chop onions, have never been chopped correctly. (There’s a correct way?) Also don’t tread into the comment section or you will hate humanity.

          • Accipiter

Cut the end (the root) off the onion last.

          • DesertHawk

Oh rearry?! I don’t like onions so I almost never chop them, but that’s good to know. Is there a reason that works?

          • Accipiter

If you cut that part off it causes the onion to ‘bleed’ more, which is what makes you tear up.

          • DesertHawk

Intriguing, I shall relay this information to my wife when she comes home. She’s the resident dirty onion eater.

          • laaarmer

There is a kid on my sons team, who when he stick handles, the other boys tell him he looks like he’s chopping onions

          • Accipiter

            Frolik ?

          • laaarmer

If Frolik was on my sons team, he would be on the Hawks. So that would make me Hossas dad – Odin.

And if Carello was your son ?

          • DesertHawk

Is onion chopping a good way to stick handle?

          • laaarmer

No. It’s a derogatory statement of the other players skill. Akin to hands of stone

          • DesertHawk

            Ouch, poor guy.

          • Joe Banks

        • DesertHawk

Were you aware of all this when it went down? Or was it handled at much lower levels in the division?

          • 10thMountainFire

I was an Afghanistan dude. Multiple times.

This looks like it was Division-level… I spent my career in infantry battalions. These dudes look like they got it done… the girl has a life now. Just an outstanding story… makes me proud. Thanks for posting this.

            Climb to Glory!

          • DesertHawk

Yeah wasn’t sure if they’d told the whole division about it while it was going down. “In other news look at the awesome stuff your fellows in Iraq are doing” Hopefully they can figure out a long term care situation for her.

          • 10thMountainFire

I’m happy to hear the unit get some credit. Aside from the Medal of Honor that SFC Jared Monti was awarded and the goings-on in Afghanistan with 10th Mountain subordinate elements, specifically, the public hasn’t gotten much news on the boys in a few years.

        • DesertHawk

I’m not sure on goalie timelines here, so don’t take offense… Did you wear a mask?

          • Joe Banks

LOL – On first concussion, wearing Tony-o type mask, dove on a loose puck and opponent deliberately kicked me in the top of the head. No call. Had to wear a “bird cage” after that.
