we’ve got some tough games ahead of us but hell yeah we can

    • Sparky_The_Barbarian

We will be unstoppable if we:
      1. Stay Healthy
      2. Find our PP (Even 15 %)

That said, I don’t give a hang about records or the President’s Cup. I am only interested in a DEEEEEEEP playoff run.

      • Joe Banks

Deeper would be better. I’m throwing a centipede out on the ice, cause they have 16 legs.

1110 games 733 points. Fantastic career.

I liked Bruno – the speed of the league finally caught up to him, although he still had that touch behind the net and making plays when we had possession of the puck. Him chugging along trying to get back on defense ws an inimitable image. You knew who he was by his skating style- didn’t need a umber. I’m glad I got to watch him for a year.

Way to go out at the top of your game, Bruno!

With the Sens being my “2nd” team this breaks my heart…However I have to agree with Wysh after calming down, “keep in mind that blame is a common cognitive distortion
often used by people who are panicking, and if you’re a Senators fan,
that’s what you’re doing right now.” Still I have to question the motive of Cooke…If he is trying to pin him then why does his left skate come back to the middle instead of going on the outside of Karlsson…

    • KenOda

Ha! I just saw your email about the hit nice to see you’ve cooled off a bit. The best way to lock a guy up on the boards is to get your leg between his, which explains why Cooke had his leg like he did.

      • laaarmer

Don Cherry is going to have something to say.
“In the old days we taped the top of our boots….”

        • Accipiter

They have kevlar sleeves that go over the shin pad and cover the back of your leg. I’m surprised more players don’t use them.

          • laaarmer

How often does this injury happen? Not very. I have seen the sleeves you are talking about. They make them for wrists too. They are hot (according to my kid). He didn’t like the slash guards either. I have not and will not watch the vid, but if the guys in the league suspect Cooke, he will be injured soon.

          • Accipiter

I did’t find them to be too hot, or I didn’t mind it. After seeing some players get cut by skate blades it seemed like a small inconvenience to me.

        • Joe Banks

I know I used to tape the top of my boots… (In the 70’s)

    • Accipiter

‏@DarrenDreger : Expect details on Karlsson’s injury when Sens gm, B.Murray meets the media later in the hour. Tendon wasn’t completely cut…good news…Still sounds like best case scenario for Karlsson is upwards of 4 months.

    • Joe Banks

It looked to me that because Cooke didn’t have him lined up “dead center”, he stuck his knee out to the left and tried to drive it up Karlsson’s arse. If he were trying to pin him in, his skate should have been on the ice, and he should have been trying to put his knee between his legs.
Only Cooke knows if he meant to do that – I sure hope not.

    • Jim A

His foot came off the ice when they jostle and their arms lock and shoulders come up. You can see their sticks raise, and Cooke’s foot raises off the ice.

  • Joe Banks

Off Topic Rant; What’s the deal with Ovechkin and Datsuk skating around with their jerseys tucked in their pants and that goddamn tail piece on their pants sticking 40 feet in the air?
It looks so “ghetto”… like a Porsche whale tail crazy glued onto a 1985 Chevy Cavalier…
Aren’t they afraid Matt Cooke will stick his skate in there? Geez.

That last goalie video looks like it could be old. Roberto? Is that you??

  • Lobster

O’reilly wants 5 year 5 mil per. No thanks.

    • Joe Banks

Well, I agree with you there, but I wonder how much Colorado has offered?
A few months ago, folks wanted to trade for a goalie making 5.3 mildo a year…

      • Accipiter

Apparently the offer was similar to Duchene. 2 yrs at 3.5 million per.

    • 10thMountainFire

Eh, that’s a bit pricey. I’d almost rather spend $5 on Bolland… eh, almost. Not sure he’s.. oh, fuck it. Give Bollie the money. Just don’t look in his crawl space.

  • wardrums

In the photo on the bench, doesn’t Toews have that, “Pay ttention to what’s going on out thaere kid.” This is no time to be checking out Ms. Slick Titty Boom.” Hossa’s like, “Chill out Tazer – give the kid a break- jeesh. It’s only a game.” Saad is thinking, “I wonder where Car-bomb is going to end up? I kind of like sitting between these two guys.”

In other news – the cooke play is one of the more peculiar checks I’ve seen – althougth his head turns away at the last moment givign the appearance he didn’t know where his blade would end up, he appears to give the boot of karlsson a glance before turning away. So odd the blade ends up perfectly placed to severe the tendon. Just what the league needs – more Matt Cookes and less Eric Karlsson. Sorry, I’m just not inclined to give Cooke the benefit of the doubt.

    • Joe Banks

Regarding that photo… is Jamie Kompoon an Alien? – Just asking.
Didn’t he tear his mask off when he was fighting Captain America? – Just asking.

      • 10thMountainFire

Toews is staring at the ice like this play determines the Stanley Cup winner.

Hoss appears to be thinking, ‘I know. I’m a fucking superstar.’

Saad is wondering how in the fuck he got here and is considering how his friends back home think he has the coolest job on earth.

        • Accipiter

To expand on Hossa, “I know. I’m a fucking superstar. Why am I sitting next to Bollig ?”

          • nextgame

And why is he on my bench?

    • 10thMountainFire

      Toews is so fucking serious.

      I love that man.

      • Accipiter

        Does mmD know ?

        • 10thMountainFire

He and I have an understanding…

            Swingers eh?

    The ESPN piece…

The only team in this town of underachievers and fuck-off sports teams that spends money for quality and keeps its stars is the goddamn Chicago motherfucking Blackhawks. As far as I’m concerned, you keep my team in the hunt, you keep guys like Keith, Seabs, Toews, Kane, and Sharp re-signing for long-term deals… I will keep spending money on the product.

If the Sox or Bears went about their business like this Hawks team, I’d be the happiest fucker on planet earth.
