• mazer_rackham

Kruger going 11-3 at the dot. That guy’s been practicing.

    • Joe Banks

But Ben Smith took a lot of draws on that line… whadda ya make of that, Edzo?

      • putmeinthemadhouse

Anyone else think he asked pierre what the population of quebec was as some sort of a joke? It was so random, and the way he said it felt lime he was thinking “maybe this will shut him up”

        • mazer_rackham

Yeah, I did…and when Pierre answered you could almost hear Eddie sigh

        • BrandonPirri

The best part was how unbelievably off he was about both the population of Quebec and the population of Finland.

          • lizmcneill

The best part was when he asked about Smith taking the draws on Kruger’s weak side and Edzo was like DO YOU EVEN WATCH THE GAMES.

          • 10thMountainFire

            I was guffawing.

          • Bannerman

Pierre is the Joe Morgan of Hockey. He doesn’t watch games unless he has to.

          • Paul the Fossil

Yea, and he was hilariously specific in his wrongness. He said “just shy of 6.8 million Eddie” when the correct figure for Quebec is just over 8 million. Finland meanwhile has only 5.4 million…basically Pierre is hockey’s Cliff Klaven.

          • 10thMountainFire

But… he said it with such certainty…

      • jordyhawk

Better on right side than Freddy?

        • lizmcneill

Yep. Steeg’s been taking a few on that side too. Maybe they should try getting Saad to take a few for Shaw on the other side because Shaw is terribad.

          • jordyhawk

I guess Yanic Perreault (I’m gonna tag him Dr. Dot) hasn’t yet connected with student Shaw. Ritalin time?

    • MySpoonIsTooBig

I don’t know if someone talked to him about it during last season’s exit interviews or if it was just something he realized on his own, but I feel like he knew over the summer that the key to his getting more ice time (especially 5-on-5) was improving at the dot.

      • putmeinthemadhouse

        Yannic perrault happened

    • Paul the Fossil

And he’s now at 56.1 percent for the season which has him 11th in the entire league among regular centers. (Toews is currently 9th at 56.9 percent.)

      • berkley

        That’s nuts

      • zacked

But he’s not actually that good, since he’s getting platooned.

        • Paul the Fossil

He can’t be getting platooned much, he’s taken 367 faceoffs. That’s more than 10 per game and ranks 64th among the league’s centers, meaning that only about two centers per team have taken more faceoffs than Kruger. (He centers the Hawks’ _fourth_ line and is averaging less than 14 minutes per game which is fourth among Hawk centers.)

So it appears that Kruger has in reality taken the great majority of his line’s faceoffs thus far this season, contrary to what Edzo was saying on last night’s broadcast.

  • laaarmer

I opened the extra skater link. That’s like being in the matrix.

    • laaarmer

As I look at the numbers, I notice that Duncan Keith played a lot of shifts with a guy named Keith.

      • lizmcneill

wait, we have 2 Keiths! Now we can trade that loser Seabrook and have a top pairing of Keith-Keith!

        • laaarmer

They are always out together anyway.

          • lizmcneill

is Too Much Keith a penalty?

          • laaarmer

Too much Seabrook is not helpful

          • VerStig

What happens when we trade for Keith Seabrook?

      • jordyhawk

        Matt Keith. Stealth Blackhawk.

    • laaarmer

      I see you lurking here.

  • BestPredsForward

    What happened to Vinny Lecavalier?

    • MySpoonIsTooBig

Non-displaced spinal fracture. I’m pretty sure that sounds worse than it is because the expectation is that he’s on the shelf for 3-4 weeks, which isn’t terrible

      • laaarmer

        He’s got a back.

        • VerStig

So he has a crack in his back?

          • chichicagochi

the doctor said he needs a backiotomy

          • M7

I wanna talk to Samson! Fly me to the moon like that bitch Alice Kramden!

          • laaarmer

Do you know when he got it?

      • BestPredsForward

        Thank you!

  • Paul the Fossil

Seabrook is now tied for the league lead in plus-minus; Keith and Saad are tied for third in the league. Hossa is 11th and Sharp is 20th. Worth noting though that Anaheim also has five players in the top 20.

(In fact 17 of the league’s top 20 players in plus-minus are in the Western Conference and two of the remaining three are Penguins…that sodden mess of a team that the Hawks smoked last night is only 3 points shy of a playoff spot. Gotta love the Easy Conference!)

    • lizmcneill

they should just give the Cup to whoever wins the WCF.

    • laaarmer

      How many are from Finland?

  • laaarmer

For the last 3 games gamecenter has only been working on the iphone for me. Both the PC and Xbox had me blacked out for all games. It’s supposed to be fixed now, so we’ll see. Obviously, last night they were on NBCSN so I got to watch, but you can imagine, I was not happy with gamecenter the last week. Today they tell me that my IP address is not “unrestricted” What the fuck does that even mean?

Have you ever tried to watch a game on the iphone?

    • laaarmer

      that should read now unrestricted

    • CozBullsFan

What they mean by unrestricted is that your IP is subject to blackouts. Unrestricted would by my IP as I live outside the country.

      • laaarmer

I had to edit. They made my ip address unrestricted.

        It is NOW unrestricted

        • CozBullsFan

Ah, there must have been a block in the IP recognition system. Not only yours, but a range of IPs that shouldn’t have been restricted. They removed the block. It usually takes 24hrs for the system to update. You shouldn’t have any more blackouts now.

          • laaarmer

We should be able to just pay for any game we want to watch. For example, if I want to watch the Montrael tonight, I should pay some fee and watch that game, like $5.00. If I want the entire season of Hawks games only $140.00. I paid whatever I paid for gamecenter, but I’ll never watch PHO or VAN if they aren’t playing the Hawks. I might watch LA or PIT, but I should be able to pay for those as I want.

          • Accipiter

Use tunnelbear and it doesn’t matter.

          • laaarmer

            I don’t trust you

          • Accipiter

You shouldn’t. That is what I use when the games are blacked out.

          • laaarmer

But the games should not have been blacked out. It was a conspiracy against me, no doubt caused by cliff somehow, or possibly Seabrook.

          • CozBullsFan

I agree that blackouts shouldn’t happen. They should be deemed illegal. If I paid to watch my team every game, I should get the god damn game no matter where I live. That’s what I paid for.

          • laaarmer

            CozBullsFan for President!

          • CozBullsFan

It’s just a free VPN client. Your computer connects to the internet through a different computer. Your IP is now that computers IP. So no more blackouts.

          • laaarmer

            I understand what it is.

          • Accipiter

            That is amazing.

          • laaarmer

Yes, I looked it up on my machine here.

          • Accipiter

            What machine you runnin’ ?

          • laaarmer

            Tandy

          • CozBullsFan

You might need the paid version if you want GCL HD.

          • laaarmer

I get that through the Xbox and I had to pay for Xbox gold.

          • Accipiter

Is that your xbox or one of your kids’ ?

          • laaarmer

            I am a GAMER!

          • Accipiter

            So is Seabrook.

          • laaarmer

He got my IP blacked out for the games. He is not helpful

          • Accipiter

He is just bad at everything.

          • CozBullsFan

Oh lord. Xbox Gold. Don’t get me started. Paying a company to receive a service you already paid for. Yeah, that shouldn’t be allowed.

          • putmeinthemadhouse

            never works for me

          • CozBullsFan

As in you still get blackouts or your stream isn’t smooth?

          • laaarmer

            Dude.

          • CozBullsFan

            What? I was asking putmeinthemadhouse?

          • laaarmer

            Maybe he has kidney stones?

          • putmeinthemadhouse

            lol.

          • Accipiter

            Nope, he’s laughing out loud.

          • CozBullsFan

            Possibly. Let me check WebMD.

          • laaarmer

See if they know what’s wrong with Toews.

          • CozBullsFan

I checked last night. It said it was lupus.

          • laaarmer

I think Seabrook is giving him something.

          • CozBullsFan

            It’s gotta be the nachos.

          • MySpoonIsTooBig

If there’s one thing I learned from house, it’s that it’s never lupus

          • laaarmer

What about boredom? It could be boredom.

          • CozBullsFan

            lol

          • Bullitt315

            It’s never lupus

          • steeg of their own

It’s never lupus. It’s usually paraneoplastic syndrome.

          • putmeinthemadhouse

great now i not only have kidney stones, but im also depressed, at risk for cancer, have a brain tumor and developing arthritis

          • laaarmer

just like the rest of us.

          • putmeinthemadhouse

as in the gcl page wont even load when i have tunnel bear on. i just use the xbmc add on now.

          • CozBullsFan

Ah, XBMC is the way to go if you have that problem. I have that on my new RasPi media center in my living room. Real HD, not that fake AppleTV crap.

          • putmeinthemadhouse

yea i just use the mac app of xbmc, carb0 made the add on and it bypasses blackouts fine. cant stream at 4500 though, i think its just my old ass laptop.

          • CozBullsFan

Isn’t max 3k? That’s the top option when you watch through NHL.com. 3K is 720p.

          • putmeinthemadhouse

on the website its max 3k, but the actual stream can hit 4500 if you access it through a different medium.

          • mazer_rackham

            Does it let you pause/rewind/restart?

          • CozBullsFan

            Yup. Mine does at least.

          • Z-man19

            is that free?

          • Accipiter

Yes. They give you a certain amount of mb per month to use (500, I think). Once you get it working (the game is no longer blacked out) you can turn it off and it keeps working (so long as you don’t exit GCL) letting you not use the free amount of mb you get.

          • laaarmer

You are a thief and a liar

          • Accipiter

I get to be both ?

          • laaarmer

“I only lied about being a thief”
            /clooney’d

          • Z-man19

so you have to be on GCL on your computer? I usually use my PS3

          • Accipiter

I do what not Chico does and hook up my computer to the TV. I am not sure how it would work through a gaming console.

          • Z-man19

Why not Chico? Can’t we just call him Chico? He knows he’s not Chico, we know he’s not Chico, seems like a lot of unnecessary typing

          • M7

Also, if you tweet their TunnelBear gospel you get an additional free 1gig on top of the 500mb/month. Not bad.

          • zacked

I thought it was based on CC location, not IP?

      • Z-man19

why wasn’t his phone blacked out then?

        • laaarmer

True. I was going through the same WiFi.

          Fucking Seabrook.

          • Z-man19

Have you added any new devices to your network recently?

          • laaarmer

Nope. Unless one of my neighbors is pirating, but most of them have their own

Gamecenter appears to be working. The games on schedule for tonight are saying “waiting for video feed” rather than the blackout restriction bs as before. We’ll see what happens tonight.

          • Z-man19

you should never be blacked out of Hawks games unless it’s on NHLN right?

          • laaarmer

OR NBC or NBCSN, both of which are part of my cable package. In order to get NHLN I have to buy another tier of cable packaging. Don’t lecture me on Direct TV. Too many tall trees here. I had it and there was many issues. I would have to remove a bunch of trees, some of which are my neighbors in order to get to work. Not happening

          • Z-man19

I’ve been tempted to try Direct TV but never have. I get fucked whenever the Hawks are on WGN or NHLN. I get CSN but not WGN Chicago, but I’m blacked out on GCL if the Hawks are on WGN. It’s fucked up

          • laaarmer

You need to tell Seabrook that is not right.

You should get WGN on GCL. Where do you live?

          • Z-man19

Lafayette IN. I get Blues games on my cable package as well. I’m in a screwed up area. Last year, if the Blues were at home and the Hawks played the same night, the Hawks game was blacked out on my cable. That has changed this year though.

        • CozBullsFan

Cause your phones IP is based on where your phone companies internet is sourced.

          • laaarmer

            Even if using my WiFi?

          • CozBullsFan

No, it should be the same as your computer and xbox if it’s the same network. That’s odd. It could also be a block of certain devices. The NHL knows what kind of device you are logging in with. You know this because they say you can only be logged in on a single instance of each device. i.e. computer, phone, ipad, etc. You get the idea. If you were able to get it on your phone, then it’s probably a device block, and not an IP block. That’s why they said it shouldn’t have been there.

          • laaarmer

It better not happen again or something is going to be on fire.

          • laaarmer

Well, it was never saying too many instances…which it has before (last season) It said blacked out for all games, not just The Hawks.

          • CozBullsFan

It was blacked out on certain devices which is why you could see it on your phone. It was an error in the system that they hopefully fixed for you.

          • laaarmer

It was a glitch in the matrix.

            I KNEW IT!

          • Z-man19

I thought your router had it’s own IP address and then your other devices had IP addresses of their own, so everything has it’s own distinct address

          • laaarmer

            Try this link
            http://www.whatismyip.com

Th IP of your device/router/computer is not the same as your public IP

          • CozBullsFan

That’s correct. However, when you go to most websites today, the site communicates with the device you are on so it knows to display a mobile version or desktop version of the site you’re going to. It’s the same concept with GCL. You can’t be watching on two computers under the same account at the same time. It will kick off the person logged in first when the second person logs in. Same for iPads, phones, and appletvs. They can block certain devices or a range of IPs. He most likely encountered the first one.

          • laaarmer

Th IP of your device/router/computer is not the same as your public IP

          • CozBullsFan

You’re both saying the same thing. Your router IP is your public IP. The IP given to your device connected to the router is given an address like 192.168.0.*. The star denotes any number depending on the number of devices connected to your router. The IP being blacked out is your public IP. Your router basically acts like a post office. When information comes in for one device, it’s routes it that way. The NHL never sees your network IP. It sees what kind of device is trying to connect from your public IP.

    • Z-man19

      Edit: I was wrong, nevermind

    • http://www.lotsofbutterplease.com/ I am not Chico Maki

I have an excellent alternative, but I think site protocol doesn’t really like the posting of those sites. Understandable. maybe this avoids it … but please, mods, delete if necessary, I’ll understand:

Type in a www, then the name of this sport we love, then the word streams, then a dot-com. It’s amazing, better than anything else I’ve tried, and I’ve tried every single internet-based thing (but no tv-based things). Email me if you want details.

      • laaarmer

I have tried all the streaming ones too, but I like to watch on the TV rather than at the desk on the comp. You know, couches and stuff.

        • http://www.lotsofbutterplease.com/ I am not Chico Maki

Probably not worth getting into, but I watch on the couch … I have my desktop connected to the tv via an HDMI cable. Any internet stuff I want to watch, I just jump it over to the tv. Write me another day if you get curious. The site is also less than half of gamecentre.

  • berkley

Hawks haven’t scored more than six in three consecutive since 92/93 when guys like Sutter, Roenick, LARMER, Belfour, and Chelios were around. Those guys never won a cup, let alone two. In twenty years, the fondness we have for those players is going to be four hundred fucking thousand times bigger for this group of guys. This team is fucking nuts and we’re spoiled out of our damn heads

    • http://www.our-founding.com/ TMFF

I am okay being spoiled as a Sports fan for once!

    • lizmcneill

There’s 20 franchises in the league in the business of selling hope. (not sure what the Oilers are selling, probably snake oil). The Hawks are selling fucking excellent hockey. This is the good old days.

      • laaarmer

        But Roenick.

        • berkley

It’s not so much Liz as it’s Roenick

Before we start planning another parade, let’s keep in mind we’ve been playing the bottom feeders. While I loved the heck out of last night’s game, I’ll hold off on the high fives until we start beating the likes of St Louis, Colorado, Anaheim, and the LA Kings on a regular basis, Oh, look at the schedule….

    • laaarmer

I want to upboat you for truthfulness, but also downboat for pessimism.

      • Bannerman

It’s not pessimism so much as cautious optimism

    • Z-man19

We get Avs and scumbags in a back to back at the end of the month. Both of them will have 4 days of rest going into those games. Hawks will have 3

    • VerStig

For some reason I’m seeing you with -2 upboats and -1 downboat on my screen…

    • CozBullsFan

Meh. I’m not worried. We’ll be just fine.

    • Jim

Hawks are the best team in the NHL right now. The parade involves a little bit of luck during the playoffs..

      • laaarmer

        How do you quantify luck?

        disqus

  • Z-man19

    I love this line:

Scott Hartnell was butt custard out there, ramming Toews into the net

with his bulbous ass. Hope you liked hearing Chelsea Dagger 7 times,
    dickbiscuit.

I can see stealing a few of those words

    • jordyhawk

Flyers have been trash since they almost ruined hockey in the mid 70′s. I will always hate them.

    A few thoughts
-Did Morin help or hurt his cause last night by getting those penalty minutes?
-Was Versteeg killing a penalty last night? I thought I saw him out there at one point.
-How many people were glad to see the 1st PP unit out there to secure the DLR?

    • Z-man19

I’m happy to have a DLR but I’m more happy that Q decided to fuck Philly since they continued to be dickwads after the game was well decided

      • Preacher

And Doc & Eddie mentioned this.

Doc: “Usually, when a game has been decided like this, you would put people out on the powerplay unit who don’t normally see powerplay time.”

Eddie: “But if you’re going to take liberties and cheap shots then the best revenge is to put your top unit out there. This is Coach Quennville sending a message.”

        Or something along those lines.

    • justforkicks

I loved it. Q had like the 3rd and 4th line or the usual lines out there until the 5×3 and continued flyers idiocy. Q putting the first unit back on and them potting a goal immediately was really fucking great

      • laaarmer

I also enjoyed the lack of celebration by the Hawks for that goal.

        • MySpoonIsTooBig

After scoring it was like Sharpie was channeling his inner-Bolland…

          • Z-man19

I think he almost whiffed on that shot too. He had the top 3/4′s of the goal wide open and it looked like he was trying to elevate the puck but the puck didn’t look like it had a lot on it when it went in.

    • 10thMountainFire

Only Bollig is allowed to take stupid penalties in Q’s world. Kruger and Morin are good examples of those not authorized.

  • justforkicks

Not even a call for schenn?

    • MySpoonIsTooBig

I didn’t think he’d get suspended for it, but I gotta say I’m shocked that he didn’t at least get a phone call and a fine. Also deserving of a fine is the dipshit ref who didn’t call anything despite the crosscheck to Steeg’s head taking place directly in front of him

      • justforkicks

He has history so while I didn’t think he’d get suspended either, I thought he’d def et a call/fine/warning. To not do anything is bs. The refs seem to fuck up worse and worse every year. Admittedly I was just glad versteegs didn’t end up with an unsportsmanlike or something for asking the ref what the fuck was up after the non call

    • raditzzzz

right? that was pretty messed up. with enough replays of it during the broadcast, you’d hope the league would take notice.

      • justforkicks

Yeah they talked about it during the game and after AND dude had prior history. Pretty absurd to not even acknowledge it

    • Bannerman

The play didn’t result a in an injury and wasn’t called a penalty. I wish I could say I was surprised that there was no call.

Is there some sort of code that keeps the Hawks from sending the video to the DPS?

  • BrandonPirri

Did anyone see the blurb about Teuvo Teravainen on NHL.com? Pretty exciting stuff.

    http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=695498

    • 10thMountainFire

That was great. I cannot wait until he joins Saad as the next generation.

    • Bannerman

      I like the nickname flash

      • bizarrohairhelmet

Wasn’t Duncs nicknamed Flash at some point?

        • CozBullsFan

I think he was very early on in his career. You could probably give Leddy the same nickname because he does exactly what earned Keith it.

  • steeg of their own

OH MY GOD. GO. GO WATCH THIS. The Blackhawks did a puppy calendar for Brian Bickell’s pit bull rescue charity, and it’s the cutest thing ever.

    http://ftw.usatoday.com/2013/12/chicago-blackhawks-pose-with-pit-bull-puppies/

    • mazer_rackham

Great cause, but too much “beefy hockey player in downy soft bed” for me

      • lizmcneill

        But PUPPIES!

      • steeg of their own

Oh come on, puppies. Plus if you watch the video at the bottom of the page, there’s a clip of Shaw cuddling with his very tiny puppy that just kills me.

        • mazer_rackham

OK, the sequences with the guys holding the puppies were pretty cute

        • DesertHawk

That puppy didn’t make it. :(

    • 10thMountainFire

      You had me at ‘puppies’.

    • bizarrohairhelmet

My favorite part is when I’m watching videos of dogs and “ahh”-ing, I look over at my dog and she’s like all “WTF! I’m right here!”

  • mazer_rackham

Bob McKenzie posits that Toews and Kane are going to ask for upwards of $12M EACH next contract. That’s a lot of Chevy Cruzes.

    http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/eye-on-hockey/24373474/tnhl-rumors-jonathan-toews-parick-kane-could-pass-11m-on-next-deals

    • chidiver

All I saw was a bunch reporters in the echo chamber speculating. Meh.

In the end, Toews and Kane will get whatever they want. The checkbook will be open. If they want max contracts…the team will give it to em. But they aren’t idiots. They know they have a great thing going and have the potential to make history. But that potential is dependent upon having a great team around them. This discussion isn’t about a financial transfer from owner to player, it concerns Kane and Toews pocketing money that WOULD be spent on their teammates. AND THEY KNOW IT.

I don’t think this will be a negotiation as much as a joint business decision. Its an interesting case study…how many guys at each “price point” does a mature team need to be a serious contender? How many cheap, but extremely talented prospects? How many high-priced stars? Grinders? Nearly over-the-hill “locker room guys?” I have no idea…but I bet Stan does.

      • lizmcneill

Yeah, they already went through the Capocalypse with their friends/team depth getting traded.

    • Sparky_The_Bard-barian

What you ask for and what you’ll gladly sign for are two different animals. Stan will work the magic numbers, probably a sliding scale increasing their take as the cap goes up. Either that or he’ll trad one of them for Miller.

      • lizmcneill

cap hit is the average annual value of the contract. Can’t tag cheater years on the end any more either.

        • Joe Banks

I can’t see 12 mildo each in any circumstance. Even if cap goes way up, you’re basically saying “I want bank, show me the money” last place is fine.
Nobody can build a cup contender around that.

  • laaarmer

What is the speculation on the “Illness” with Doan?

    Hep? Mono? worse?

I hope he is not too bad off.

    • bizarrohairhelmet

His douchebaggery has worsened to “debilitated” status.

      • laaarmer

I think he has a serious condition.

It is unrelated to his face.

  • chidiver

I’m getting ready to move, so tonight is the first of a few evenings without cable. :panic:

Me and GCL are going to be spending some quality time together!

    • CozBullsFan

Good luck with your move Chi.

      • chidiver

        Thx!

    • Joe Banks

The best part of moving is drinking when you’re finished to kill the pain!

      • chidiver

How is that different from any other day?

        • Joe Banks

Hey, I was just trying to cheer you up…

          • CozBullsFan

I think she was agreeing with you. lol

          • Joe Banks

            Oh, well, hey then…

          • CozBullsFan

You should turn on the MN/SJ game. SJ is taking it to MN.

          • Joe Banks

            I’ll take a gander…

          • chidiver

            Umm…..she?

          • CozBullsFan

            Honey Badger?

          • chidiver

I take what I want….but I tend to ask nicely.

          • Z-man19

Thank god, I thought I was losing it, well losing it worse than I thought anyway

          • Joe Banks

            There there… I know how you feel…

          • chidiver

I lost it a while ago. Its OK!

          • CozBullsFan

Maybe I’m mixing Chi up with someone else? I seriously have problems keeping track of people. It’s not just an internet thing. It’s a family thing. If I don’t spend 3 months with someone non stop, I can never remember their name. Same with my Dad. It’s a serious curse that makes me feel like a horrible person all the time. It’s not that someone is not memorable. My mind just has problems keeping names or details linked with faces. I’ll recognize you, but I won’t know why.

          • Z-man19

my problem is simple stuff. Not too long ago, I spent about 45 minutes looking for my glasses at work, I finally found them when I went to scratch my head. Shit like that drives me nuts, I put something down and 2 minutes later I can’t remember where I put it.

I’m not great with names but I usually do well with details

          • CozBullsFan

I have that problem too. I walk around looking for keys I set down 10 minutes ago. Had them in my hand a couple times. I constantly have to write things down or set reminders on my phone. Just yesterday, I walked into a clients house. I was there for 10 minutes. Walked out to my car and realized I left my sunglasses inside. Retrieved them. Realized I didn’t have my keys. Retrieved them. Realized I forgot his water bill. Retrieved that with great embarrassment.

          • Z-man19

I can’t leave work for the day without having to go back to my office and get at least one thing, and that’s on a good day. Too much stuff being put into too small a brain, in my case anyway

          • chidiver

Who are you? Why am I here?

          • Z-man19

            do I know you?

          • chidiver

How did you get in my house?

          • CozBullsFan

Are you sure this isn’t my house?

          • CozBullsFan

            Yes

          • CozBullsFan

I guess that’s my part of the problem. I have 8 properties I oversee daily. The means pool care, checking for repairs, overseeing the repairs, paying bills, security, overseeing maids, garden upkeep, and preparation for incoming renters. Also attending to the needs of homeowners and renters alike. There’s so much going on or needing to be done that it’s easy to forget things if I don’t keep a daily list.

          • CozBullsFan

Sorry by the way! See my response Z. I’ve always wondered if my family curse may be an early indication of our Alzheimers issue.

          • chidiver

            No worries!

  • bizarrohairhelmet

wow. disqus works on regular XP/Chrome again. woo

  • CozBullsFan

    Anyone watching the Jets/Avalanche game?

    • Z-man19

      Good?

      • CozBullsFan

It was an alright game. Jets did well. It went to a shootout. Colorado won naturally. They have the talent that will win any shootout. Too bad it won’t help them in the playoffs.

        • mazer_rackham

hate those 3 point divisional games

          • CozBullsFan

Same. It’s frustrating but, at the same time, we have been the beneficiaries of them. They need to get rid of the shootout period. It’s detrimental to the salary cap efforts of forcing parity. If two teams are playing well head to head, let them finish it 4v4. Not 3v3 or a shootout. Doing that gives the more talented team the advantage.

          • mazer_rackham

I’d be fine with a 3-2-1-0 point system. A SO win definitely shouldn’t be equal to a regulation or OT win.

          • CozBullsFan

I see that as a band-aid fix to the problem. Any game decided by a shootout gives the more talented team an advantage, even if the less talented team has been outplaying them. I know what I’m saying doesn’t do the Hawks any good. It’s an honest opinion on what’s good for the game. I’d rather lose fair square than win in a skills competition.

          • Joe Banks

I think they should play badminton on skates at center ice to decide a tie. WHO’S WITH ME???

          • CozBullsFan

            Still better than a shootout.

          • Joe Banks

            Fuckin’ Right, Chicago!

          • mazer_rackham

I don’t think Foley could pronounce “shuttlecock” after 65 minutes of hockey

          • bizarrohairhelmet

McGuire would be beside himself in wonderland of entendre.

          • Joe Banks

Have Susannah Collins do it. What could go wrong?

BTW – is there a penalty for closing your hand over the Shuttlecock?

          • mazer_rackham

I like the ceremony of the shootout because its kinda fun to see what the elite guys can do, but at the same time I know it shouldn’t impact the standings.

          • CozBullsFan

Right, it’s cool to see. Probably better for the All-Star game. In no way should a talent contest of 1v1 decide a game that has always prided itself as being the only real team game in professional sports.

  • Joe Banks

Hey, Brian Burke… “what’s with the hair”???

  • CozBullsFan

Niemi robs Spurgeon of an open net goal. Not bad.

  • hawkaholic

Probably gonna get jumped for this but urgh the homerism of some HFBoards Hawks fans gives me massive case of 2nd-hand embarrassment.

    • CozBullsFan

I doubt anyone would jump on you for that. There’s bound to be homerism no matter where you go. Even here sometimes. Though, it’s never to the degree of the HF boards. I rarely, if ever, venture outside the well respected blog circle of the Blackhawks. You’ll find a voice of reason at these places that make the embarrassing homerism non-existent.

      • Z-man19

Who is our voice of reason again?

        • bizarrohairhelmet

          Present

          • Z-man19

            PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFTTTTTTTTTTT

          • bizarrohairhelmet

            That’s not reasonable.

          • CozBullsFan

About as reasonable as you can expect from Z. <3 you Z.

          • Z-man19

Back at ya Coz, bhh is reasonable about jinxes, his devotion to strange German porn on the other hand…

          • CozBullsFan

Yeah, no comment on his unusual German porn knowledge. I just spit my drink all over my desk on your reasonable about jinxes thing. Refusal to acknowledge the false DLR jinx. *cough cough*

          • Z-man19

            There is no jinx

          • CozBullsFan

            ಠ_ಠ

          • Joe Banks

Nine game losing streak… it’s science.

          • CozBullsFan

            We’ll find out Sat.

          • Joe Banks

But we found out last nite?

          • CozBullsFan

Heh, that’s what bhh said too. I’ll drop a little history on you to explain what I was talking about. The last time the Triumvirate declared a false DLR was after we beat Buffalo 6-2 on Jan. 18 of 2012. We beat Florida next game 3-1 on Jan. 20, 2012. The start of our infamous 9 game losing streak started the next game against Nashville, losing 5-2 on Jan. 21. 2012.

          • bizarrohairhelmet

strange German porn is the epitome of reason

          • CozBullsFan

You and I have a very different idea of what is considered reasonable. hahahahaha

        • CozBullsFan

I’ll point out Sparky in this thread as one even though I didn’t want to take off my rose colored glasses when I posted my reply.

      • hawkaholic

Yeah, I agree. I much prefer reading the posts here. I was reading some of the posts over there just now out of curiosity and I was cringing at some of the posts.

    • Joe Banks

      What’s an HF board?

      • hawkaholic

the place where self-awareness goes to die?

        i’m (mostly) kidding

        • CozBullsFan

but really it’s the truth, for some of them.

          • Joe Banks

OK… let’s try this then,,, what”s HF stand for?

          • CozBullsFan

            Hockey Futures

  • CozBullsFan

SJ up 3-0 now. MN are chasing instead of playing their game.

    • chidiver

Burwood in the booth on SJ feed.

      • CozBullsFan

        Haha. I miss Burish.

        • chidiver

He was marginal as a player, but a great personality.

          • CozBullsFan

Personality is important for a good locker room. Same with Eager. Fluffy to a degree as well.

          • lizmcneill

Even Carbomb. Bollig seems the same. When your hockey is as replaceable as theirs is, your personality is an asset.

        • Joe Banks

He would be good in a Braveheart sequel… “It’s my Island… where’s your Grandma”?

  • chidiver

    I love Crow…..but I miss Nemo :-(

    • CozBullsFan

Same. Nemo got a lot of flack from a ton of people, here and elsewhere. His personality was what impressed me most. He didn’t linger on his bad games. He ignored his critics. He just went out and played his game. It brings me great pleasure knowing that all those people that said we would never win a Cup with Neimi or Crow in net ate a metric shit ton of crow. GREAT PLEASURE!

      • chidiver

Great sequence by Nemo. I was always stunned by his sheer speed. He was ridiculously raw for a while and made a bunch of mental errors…..but his reaction time was incredible.

        • CozBullsFan

He always had fluid movement. He made saves when he needed like Crow. That’s what has always been expected of our goalies. We know they will allow a couple. What Stan wants in the mental fortitude to be a wall when the team needs it.

    • Joe Banks

      Who’s your Antti now?

      • CozBullsFan

Crow. Same critics with the same stuff. Should have been MVP.

        • Joe Banks

Even Kaner agrees. Fucking Right Chicago!

      • chidiver

Crow. Nemo was just exciting to watch. Crow’s game is very different and not as flashy, but extremely effective.

  • Hawkeytalk

So I watched the DAL game this evening because I missed most of it the other night. I focused on #19 as much as I could. He looks to me to have an issue with his core; maybe a stomach muscle or rib as he seems to be protecting that area. Hopefully it isn’t a back problem or worse. I think they would keep him out of it were more than something nagging.

The other thing I noticed is that #23 is moving much better both with and without the puck. Watch out NHL, I have a feeling he going to really start heating up. That’s a nightmare for the rest of the league with him on the same line as #88.

    • Joe Banks

Philly was targeting him, so they agree. He has tripled his scoring since leaving FLA, no?

      • Hawkeytalk

And his +/- is almost 0 now. Wasn’t it like -10 or something when he came over?

        • Joe Banks

Now if we could just do that to the PK

        • CozBullsFan

One thing to remember is most of his time in Florida this year was played after his knee surgery. I think it was his knee at least. Also, you can’t expect much playing on Florida compared to Chicago. His play should partially be a credit to his line mates. Players feed off those they play with.

    • lizmcneill

Seems reasonable – his skating has looked off for a while now, it’s more than just a finger injury. Get well soon, Jonny! The blender would go into orbit if he sits. Kaner to 1C?

Steeg has been noticeable to me a few times recently for his skating. He and Kaner make Zus look even sl…o….w….er than usual.

      • Hawkeytalk

Sharp to 1C! Maybe he’s been angling for captain’s job all along!

  • chidiver

Well, g’nite kids. I just don’t care enough about sha-arks vs minny to stay up any longer.

    • CozBullsFan

      Night Chi!

      • chidiver

        Night Coz!

    • Joe Banks

      like watching paint dry?

      • CozBullsFan

What is this? A Nashville game?

  • CozBullsFan

Couture took a shot to the noggin. Didn’t look serious but he was bleeding from his forehead or eye as he left.

  • CozBullsFan

And Niemi loses his shutout. Bad luck deflection off Stuart.
