• Marian Brossa

Nashville’s got a moronic policy trying to keep Blackhawks fans (read also 70% of their attendance) out of those games. Mrs. Brossa got our November 16 tickets yesterday at a bit of a markup, but I have no problem giving money to charities that teach kids how to play hockey like the pros.

    • bizarrohairhelmet

Now if they could just get a charity to teach likewise for the fans

    • Jenbees

I’ll be there with you, Bro. 39 days baby!!!

  • Sparky_The_Bard-barian

Biggest rival St Louis or Minn? Hate St Louis and their fans. Don’t hate Minny or their fans…. yet.

I know this isn’t going to be a popular phrase, but could the penalty kill be early signs of a SC hangover?

Waiting for the class action suit over ‘certain fans must by season tickets.’

    • MySpoonIsTooBig

Just wait – Minny and their fans will be entirely insufferable, especially after another playoff series or 2 against them.

  • KissTheCup

Is it legal to restrict sale if items (hockey tickets) by geographical location (chicago zip code)? I feel like it shouldn’t be but I have no idea. Any lawyers here?

  • laaarmer

I feel bad for Toews. He’s so tired from having to play on the PK. The Hawks should put inferior players out there when they are most vulnerable so the captain is not so tired. You know, guys like Nordstrom or Morin.
I suppose this is why I like this site. It’s so idiotic at times that it makes the day better.

    • 10thMountainFire

      You trolling bastard.

      • laaarmer

You got that right. It’s better than shot quality or faceoff percentage.

        • 10thMountainFire

          Hits.

    • lizmcneill

You do realize the hockey Toewsrobot is a joke, right, and that no one can skate unlimited minutes? Remember Keith in 2011?

      • laaarmer

I doubt anybody is thinking unlimited minutes, but if you want to take it to the ridiculous extreme, far be it from me to stop you. 60 seconds of PK is not asking too much. If they are up by 2-3 goals or the other team is struggling, you can not play Toews for a PK shift here and there. It’s not that hard, and he’s the best player on the team. He has to be on the PK.
Let me see if I can figure out how to fix struggllng defensive forwards. Maybe I put the best defensive forward and another top 10 defensive forward out together. It’s so idiotic.

        • lizmcneill

Sure, let’s put him on the first PK unit. And the first PP unit, it’s not like he’s going to score there either. And play power vs power at ES because we don’t have Bolly as a sacrificial goat any more. I’m sure Toews will never slump offensively in that scenario. Never happens, right?

          • laaarmer

I’ll copy this here for you, since you are obviously right.
“You cannot seriously be stating that Jonathan Toews should not be on the PK so he is rested. It’s part of his job. Who killed penalties last season? Kruger – Frolik, Toews – Hossa. I’m basing this on PK
TOI. Next were Saad and Sharp. Oh and BTW Toews SH TOI for last season 1:25, but he was too tired to play 5 on 5. Yeah shortened season. Bullshit, Bullshit, Bullshit…..
2010 1:32 per game. Again, He was too tired to play 5 on 5.

It’s flat out idiotic to suggest that Toes not play on the PK.”

I wrote it on the other thread.

          • laaarmer

            So here’s the compromise
            Kruger – Saad
            Toews – Hossa
Sharp – Smith/Bickell/another guy that can play not named Nordstrom

Until somebody else figures out how to do it at the same level these guys will.

          • lizmcneill

Not on the first unit though. It’s a little early to decide that we can’t use the depth players and have to have the core as front line on everything all the time.

          • laaarmer

Until it stops allowing goals at a peewee rate, he might have to do it.

          • lizmcneill

Yeah, he might have to do it, but I don’t think it’s the best plan for getting a high seed and going deep in the playoffs.

If it was Bollig I would laugh for 10 minutes straight. GET ON THAT, BOLLIG. MAKE YOURSELF USEFUL.

          • laaarmer

My bet is it’s eventually going to be Smith and Kruger on the 1st PK. It could just as easily be Kruger and Saad.

    • http://www.lotsofbutterplease.com/ I am not Chico Maki

I agree with you, laaarmer. He’s flat out our best player. Put him out there in any situation that requires your best player play. First unit PP, first unit PK, and other normal shifts against the opposing best players or in offensive advantages.

      • 10thMountainFire

He’s like a demon and the Sun God Ra all rolled into one. Toews giveth life and he taketh life.

      • Why

Tough to set it up so that he’s always rested enough to start the PK. But yeah, I want the Captain killing penalties.

  • cliffkoroll

OK, I just watched Saturday’s game. 50 minutes of sheer domination.

Crow shoulda got that floater off St. Louis’s backhand. Oh well.

Sharp and Hossa need a center.

    • 10thMountainFire

      Move Sharp to center*

      Fixed.

      • laaarmer

        I’m looking at you.

        • 10thMountainFire

          Does this look infected?

          • laaarmer

Yes, you’re going to need to get that looked at by a urology specialist.

          • 10thMountainFire

You’re going to need to stop looking at it.

      • Bannerman

        move Walter Payton to QB

    • laaarmer

Who do you think should do that job?
(If any asshole says Toews, there will be hell to pay for the rest of the season)

      • MySpoonIsTooBig

Toews 2.0. I mean, I’m assuming they’ve still got the specs from when they built the first one right? You don’t just build something like that and then get rid of the blueprints

        • laaarmer

Q will try Nordstrom at it soon

      • rhodes

        Saad. No, Bollig!

      • 10thMountainFire

        Ryan. Kesler.

        • laaarmer

          Yes, he should.
          Kane Toews Bickell
          Hossa Kesler Sharp

But then Kesler and Toews would take away all the PK time from Kruger and dammit, Kruger can kill a penalty.

          • 10thMountainFire

I believe that line-up violates the rules of war. Just saying.

      • cliffkoroll

I’d like Brandon Pirri to get a shot there.

He musta found Q’s doghouse. Remember when that happened to Kruger last year?

    • Why

That’s my thing with Handzus. I like what he brings to the table and think he’s an effective centre when playing with speedy wingers. That give and go he and Saad ran in game 1 has been my favourite moment of the season so far. I’m not sure I’m totally sold on him when the major goal would appear to be playing a cycle game with Hossa.

  • Sparky_The_Bard-barian

I would laugh my ass off if half of the arena was empty seats the next time we play in Nash or St Louis.

And Laviolette will soon look back on his firing from Philly as the day his life changed for the better.

    • MySpoonIsTooBig

In your 1st sentence you misspelled “will” as “would” and “when” as “if”…

      • Sparky_The_Bard-barian

Except that this underestimates the ingenuity of Hawks fans to get tickets and fuck the Blues.

      • Bullitt315

They’ll sellout every game they play against Chicago this year.

        • MySpoonIsTooBig

Depends on how effectively their idiotic tactics prevent ‘Hawks fans from buying tickets. I would not be at all surprised to see the drink scotch center half empty tomorrow night…

  • raditzzzz

im interested to hear more about what type of injury raanta sustained. khabby better oil his bolts until raanta is back, otherwise our parachute is made of rockford backups.

    • mad-hatter

Something about the knee, maybe a bad bruise? If it were broken I think we’d know. And one of those Rockford backups made 90 saves on 95 shots, so the parachute looks good.

      • raditzzzz

knee shots suck. hope for a speedy recovery from antti.

  • Preacher

The Blues are going to be our biggest rivalry now because Backes hits so much better than our Captain. And he fights. And THN picked the Blues to win it all this year. So, yeah, they’re the rivalry now.

    • Sparky_The_Bard-barian

      Also…. higher douche factor.

      • laaarmer

        “Playoff Beard”

        • Preacher

Yeah, I didn’t want to pull out that picture again. Makes me nauseous every time I see it.

  • Daze55

    He’s…….Back.

    Brian Hedger
    ‏@BrianHedger

Quenneville confirmed that Sheldon Brookbank will play vs. #STLBlues on Weds. night, paired wit Leddy #Blackhawks

    • 10thMountainFire

      Fuck.

      • justforkicks

Hayes in as well. Q said he and smith were “tied” in who played better

        • 10thMountainFire

So, basically what you’re saying is that I need to be good and drunk by the time the game starts.

          • justforkicks

            Correct.

I didn’t see the last game so idk how Thor played but I want him in anyway so I can see him play, and meh bbank tbh

          • Bullitt315

I do too, but really only because he looks like Thor.

          • justforkicks

I didn’t want to be the one to say it, but yes

          • 10thMountainFire

Mixed results. Definitely some talent there.

          • lizmcneill

Eh whatever, Q is loading up thumpy dudes cos it’s Scum Jr. I am ok with the more useful layers not getting concussed on someone’s fist.

So now Bollig has the same number of goals as Backes, doesn’t that mean that The Code allows them to fight? While Toews has more PIMs than points and is therefore a goon who is unworthy of fighting American Hero Backes, that’s how it works, right?

          • Why

I can see an argument that it would be really unfair to Kostka to give him his first game action against a team that is as physical as the Blues.

          • Z-man19

            Huh?

          • Why

From what I’ve seen, he’s a puck moving defenceman that’s not particularly physical. Leddy’s fun to watch from the neutral zone in, but can get his partner in some difficult predicaments. I trust Brookbank to be able to handle himself, Kostka I’m not so sure on. I’m not even saying Brookbank is necessarily the right call here, but that would be a tough first game for Kostka to play.

          • mad-hatter

I’m confused how this is different from any other game.

          • 10thMountainFire

            Choice of liquor, maybe?

          • mad-hatter

            So basically we’re going Everclear.

          • 10thMountainFire

            Awwww shit. Party party party.

    • Sparky_The_Bard-barian

Meaning the third pair will see all of forty seconds of ice time in the third.
