• Peanut Butter

    Biscuit!

  • DtotheK

looked like a soft goal! It will be a fun game if thats how Dubnyk is this game.

  • Peanut Butter

Maybe everyone’s asleep tonight thanks to the late start. Or in Sopel’s case maybe the late start has him smashed already?

  • LongJon

put another in this period and the wild could go quietly. the next goal is important!

  • SAUVE!! bigsave

    nice deflection scandella

  • D_Smith

    Sheet Richards ram that home

  • WookRN

The Wild look panicked and frantic. Not that they’re making bad individual moves, but they don’t look as organized as they have….

    • D_Smith

If the Hawks were going to mail this one in and finish them off at home, the 1st was the Wild’s chance. Now time to keep the foot on the neck.

  • LongJon

good first period by the hawks played good team defense

  • DtotheK

I would have thrown that sweater away too…

  • Brandon Murray

Fairly weak hooking call there boys.

    • DtotheK

      Really weak…

  • seabsrat

Man, Scandella can really bring it.

  • seabsrat

    SHAW!!!!!!

  • Peanut Butter

    Shawzer!

  • DtotheK

SHAWZEY!!! Glad to see him get a goal

  • seabsrat

Holy fucking Rozsival… Oh my gosh that looked really bad on his knee. His foot turned pretty far.

  • DtotheK

    Wow!!! Crawford saves Rozsival again….

    • Hockey Newbie

Have a hard time blaming Rosi on that. He was an albatross around Keith’s neck for most of the season, but has not been that bad in this series to be fair. Still Timo played less than 10 minutes again

  • To Saad be the glory

Well, now what? Isn’t this the moment some of you have been waiting for?

    • To Saad be the glory

God,on the replay that was ugly.Poor Rozsival.

      • seabsrat

As much as I rag on his play, I certainly didn’t wish any injury on him. That looked awful.

        • To Saad be the glory

          Me either,and yes it did.

    • The Gatest Gamer

Funny how this happens just as he starts playing good.

  • Call_me_Ishmael_again

    Man, that Rozsival leg injury was u g l y in slow-mo

  • LongJon

hope rozy isnt hurt bad… I know he is slow and makes a lot of mistakes but he is still better then timonen

    • DtotheK

Oh watching the slow motion replay his ankle is BUSTED….

      • LongJon

just saw the replay… that was hard to watch

        • WookRN

I dont want him hurt…just look at someone else.. kinda late ing he playoffs for a bench change…

          • D_Smith

Yeah hope it’s not bad. I’ve bashed him plenty but lately he’s actually been playing really well, and he’s better than the alternatives in Rundblad & co.

          • seabsrat

Before Rozsival showed he could play decent in some of these playoff games, I would have said I’d still rather see Rundblad or Cumiskey just because they have more of an offensive upside and were not much worse defensively, in my opinion…
Now the issue is it’s pretty late in the game to be bringing a young guy into this kind of a role.

          • WookRN

I think Rundblad might be the better player…. But pretty late In the playoffs for a change out…

        • rhodes

I got the impression Q was riding Rozsival as far as he could before being forced to lean completely on his top 4 defensemen. Now, it’s time. When Rosi finally fell at the blue line, I was reminded of this scene… “Come on, you!”

          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1L9MjRlk4k

      • DJ

I was thinking the torque tore several ligaments. Maybe it was the ankle…

    • DtotheK

Going to be a lot more double shifts. Makes sweeping tonight that much more important to give our D-men some rest.

  • DtotheK

    Of course….. goddamnit….

  • WookRN

Did they just say this team is fighting for Rosie??

    • The Gatest Gamer

      They sure love talking

  • seabsrat

Well, this should be an interesting test with Timonen getting some more big boy minutes..

    • D_Smith

He should be rested at least lol.

  • Sam

Steady on the march towards another cup for the dynasty, plus we dont have to watch roszival biff anymore. Could this be better?

    • rhodes

      Careful. Karma.

    • Hockey Newbie

Yeah not sure how you can cheer on injury to your own player.

      • Sam

yeah um, that’s not a cheer for injury, its gratitude for not wathcing plainful mistkaes that cost us along our march. Call it a ‘silver lining’ if that sounds more warm and fuzzy.

good ol internet forums and not taking things at face value

    • ZigZags82

Really? It’s sports man, and he plays for your team….

  • rhodes

Matt Fucking Cooke. The sooner that hack, asshole is out the game, the better

    • Brandon Murray

Tried to use his knee to take out Hammer. He’s only been suspended for that like 3 times so yeah.

    • To Saad be the glory

Now that it’s 3-1,maybe they should give cooke a going away present.

  • DtotheK

That was great! Dubnyk almost pulled a Rozsival!

  • seabsrat

    SHOWTIME!

  • DtotheK

    KANER!!!!

  • rhodes

    Aaaaaaaaaaand, scene.

  • rhodes

Best thing about the NHL replay system… it’s fast. NFL could learn something there.

    • DtotheK

Yeah but they missed the Calgary goal in regulation. It was clearly over the line and Toronto missed that one…..

      • DJ

But the puck wasn’t on the ice, warping the perspective and adding to the doubt that forced them to uphold the call on the ice. And why didn’t an overhead angle indicate a goal.

  • LongJon

    showtime

  • rhodes

    Wow. Very weak call.

  • rhodes

    Hoooooooossssssssaaaaa!

  • seabsrat

There’s the hoss goal we’ve been looking for! Stick a fork in ’em!

  • D_Smith

    Hossa with the distance shot.

  • The Gatest Gamer

shit is getting very very real

  • rhodes

Time to call your timeout, no? Settle this shit down.

  • DtotheK

Well this shit just got seriously real

    • D_Smith

      Very real shitting

  • MrNikopopoulos

COME ON, 45 SECONDS BOYS, HANG ON

  • seabsrat

What in the fuck is happening.

  • rhodes

    Toews for the win!! DING!

    • MrNikopopoulos

I screamed in joy so loud I woke up the lady and…then…what.

  • MrNikopopoulos

    HAMMER SPEAR THROW!!!

  • rhodes

    Game 4 never easy.

  • seabsrat

I wonder how many Blackhawks fans neared their first heart attack in those last few minutes.

    • rhodes

      me, for one.

      • WookRN

        Me two

      • seabsrat

I feel partially responsible for my comment after Hossa’s EN where I very confidently declared, “Stick a fork in ’em!”

        I’ll never do that again.

  • D_Smith

That was far more interesting than I wanted it to be

  • rhodes

The handshake line is one of the best things in professional sports.

    • rhodes

I made my daughter stay up to watch it at the end of the Nashville series. She thought I was weird. She’ll understand someday, tho.

      • DJ

I learned it in the 71 Finals. Made me a fan of Jean Béliveau. Or actually, a bigger fan.

    • WookRN

We’re a hawks house (obviously) but we clapped and stood for the Wild when they were out after the handshakes. Great sportsmanship in that town.

  • The Gatest Gamer

Good job by Wild. Went out fighting, that’s very impressive. Overall wild and their fans seem to be some of the least douchiest out there.

    • rhodes

Agree. I’m glad that Yeo rebounded this year. Seems like a decent guy and a good coach. Think about it. People expected him to be fired back in January.

    • Hockey Newbie

Save for the Crawford chants 20 seconds into game 3, but all in all they aint Scum Jr.

  • D_Smith

Now that I can unclinch a little. If the Flames can somehow pull out a miracle and knock out the Ducks, and the Caps could win the East, the Hawks would by my calculations have home ice advantage the rest of the way if I’m correct.

  • DJ

    Valor= the Minnesota Wild.

    • seabsrat

      They went down guns blazing.

    • WookRN

      Amazing finish. No quit…

  • TitanTransistor

    Great series by the Blackhawks.

Sit back and rest up. Still 8 wins to go.

    • rhodes

      Go Flames!

      • rhodes

…and if they get ahead in the series, Go Ducks!

  • Brandon Murray

I had a mild stroke and shit my pants a little. Well played Minny you truly are the state of hockey. Crazy finish but you’re welcome St. Louis we avenged your shitty playoff series. BwahahahHahHha. 5 in 7 years boys, let’s keep pushing for Cup #3.

    • rhodes

That’s ok. There will be a lot of underwear in the wash tomorrow.

    • cza

I’m happy with the outcome too, but let’s not go crazy here: I reject the state of hockey tagline as much as the idea that Detroit is hockeytown.

      • DJ

I think there’s a bit more justification with Minnesota; the statewide telecast of the state high school finals gets enormous ratings. As for “Hockeytown,” well, Canada is just across the Ambassador Bridge..,

  • WookRN

“Rozensval down with what they’re calling a lower body injury”
    Mulbury “Ya think?”

  • wihawkfan

Article with link to a slow-mo of the injury. It’s hard to watch.

    http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/2015/5/7/8571777/blackhawks-michal-rozsival-suffers-gruesome-leg-injury

    • Hockey Newbie

That really was nasty. I did not realize the entire foot turned like that. I thought when I saw it that he hurt his knee, and just saw the awkward way his left foot planted. I did not see the rotation of his foot as the play continued. I was ready to be done with Rosi this year, but that is not the way I wanted it to happen.

  • rhodes

It’s amazing (infuriating?) listening to the NBC commentators reluctantly acknowledge Crawford’s solid play in this series. I mean, Dubnyk—Vezina candidate—pretty much shit the bed in this series. Not a word.

  • Oldfarthawkfan

I ask all of those that wished an injury on Roszival, are you happy now?

    • rhodes

I don’t recall anyone wishing injury on Rozsival—maybe I missed that. I recall a lot of people wishing he sit in favor of a better player (and whether that player exists is arguable, sure). There’s a bit of a difference there.

      • Oldfarthawkfan

I do recall more than a few times, as I and some others on this blog commented on how a person must be a sick individual to wish injury on anyone. I think you see Cumiskey dress , I don’t think you see Rundblad wearing a Hawks jersey ever again.

        • TitanTransistor

          I disagree.

Q had the option between Rundblad and Cumisky all season. Rundblad dressed for 40-something games. Cumisky dressed less than 10.

I think Rundblad will draw in, and Q will shelter him.

    • TitanTransistor

I never actively wished injury on him. I’m not happy he’s in pain, but I’m not particularly bothered by losing him either.

I see a lot of concern about filling the minutes, but to my mind, he shouldn’t have been playing that number of minutes anyway. He was a #5D paired with our top D for half a game. Plug one of Rundblad or Cumisky (or hell, go off the board if you like Q), play them 10-12 minutes a night, boost Timo to 10 minutes a night, and spread the rest across the top 4.

The Blackhawks have some time off before going to the WCF. They’ll have plenty of rest.
