• Peanut Butter

Are we really stuck waiting until the Tampa/Montreal game is over before NBC Sports will give us our game?

    • Peanut Butter

And did they seriously just tie the damn game?

  • DtotheK

And now we are going to OT? Sorry NHL we need our Hawks!!

  • B.I.G. Forever

Jeez. In Chicago and can’t see the game. CSN/NBCs/WGN all not showing HAWKS hockey….

  • DtotheK

    Thank Toews!!! Here we go!

  • Peanut Butter

    KNEEL

  • seabsrat

    Oh my Saad

  • To Saad be the glory

    Saad!!

  • DtotheK

    SAAAAD!!!! Dubnyk can suck it!

  • DJ

Dear God, Saad is a beast!! The back check, the movement up ice, refusing to lose the puck…

  • Long Jon

lets go hawks great way to start the game!

  • DJ

The local markets always switch to their game.

  • Aaeismacgychel

    GREAT START. Keep this up

  • Aaeismacgychel

Its on NHL Network right now

  • DtotheK

What does everyone think about Crows new mask??

    • Peanut Butter

      Looks awesome!

    • Long Jon

hopefully its his new good luck charm

    • B.I.G. Forever

Really like it. I think the older, 1930’s logo is the best. Here you can see the 50’s logo, which is really cool too.

    • Bob Lanz

Looks like a shutout to me

      • DtotheK

        hey! no “s” word!!

        • Bob Lanz

          Sex

    • Aaeismacgychel

I like it. I swear I remember a similar one to it. I’ll have to look up Hawks goalie masks and see if I can pin it down

  • Peanut Butter

Haha nice job trying to say Teuvo’s last name.

  • Peanut Butter

Saad probably should have just taken that but he wanted to share the goal scoring with others.

  • Peanut Butter

Loving Teuvo’s play in the 1st so far. Please keep playing like that so we don’t have to see Versteeg again.

  • Peanut Butter

Even Kaner is plaing defense tonight. What a difference when the forwards actually have the Ds.

    • DtotheK

It would be better if they could get some more offense going rather then having to play defense.

      • Peanut Butter

True…though Crow hasn’t seemed too settled yet so not letting him get pelted with shots is probably also good until he gets his groove back a bit.

        • Peanut Butter

Obviously he decided to prove that he’s fine with that stop. 😉

          • Long Jon

he still looks like he is fighting the puck…

  • B.I.G. Forever

    The SAADFather

  • Peanut Butter

    Showtime!

  • DtotheK

    Kaner!!!

  • Aaeismacgychel

GOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLL!!!! OH HOLY RICHARDS TO KANE

  • Long Jon

    dubnuk who????

    • D_Smith

I thought Dubnyk was an impenetrable wall of superhuman?

      • Long Jon

        7 shots 3 goals

  • Bob Lanz

    Sharply working hard

  • DtotheK

    4th line getting it done!!!!!

  • Peanut Butter

Kruger with his first of the playoffs!

  • Bob Lanz

    Fourth line magic!

  • Aaeismacgychel

    GOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLL!!!! WHAT PRESSURE!!!

  • Bob Lanz

How much did the Bulls win by yesterday? Lmfao

  • Long Jon

Best 4th line in hockey going to work!

  • Aaeismacgychel

Parise lost his mind there. Make them pay here Hawks

  • Peanut Butter

It appears that Dubnyk will be yet another shaky goaltender. Maybe he caught a case of Pekka Rinne. He’s given up 3 goals on 7 shots.

  • D_Smith

Ruh roh what’s up with Sharp?

    • Aaeismacgychel

      Yeah, that is worrisome

    • Long Jon

      equipment hopefully

    • cza

      Bathroom break.

  • Long Jon

86 needs to see some PP time

    • Bob Lanz

For sure I also think Q is short shifting vernettevermette and TT but sharp is out there longer or am I just biased? Seriously is this just my paranoid perspective?

  • Aaeismacgychel

Believe it or not fans almost cost the Hawks there. Rozi was sure it was icing and it was so loud he thought he just couldn’t hear the whistle

    • Bob Lanz

Or Rozi is just an idiot, you be the judge

      • Aaeismacgychel

Hahaha. That too. Even if you are positive it’s icing, get that puck out of danger anyways

    • Long Jon

Rozi is just an idiot. it looked like he was trying to hold the puck along the boards.

  • Bob Lanz

    Any sharp updates yet?

    • Aaeismacgychel

I haven’t heard a thing. Anyone listening on radio?

    • Aaeismacgychel

Sharp is back on the bench

  • TitanTransistor

Well that was a fucking awesome period. Let’s recreate that for the next 11 periods at least.

    • Bob Lanz

      It was fun 🙂

    • D_Smith

Q figured, 2nd round of playoffs I guess it’s time to get serious and make the lines right.

  • Aaeismacgychel

Great start to the 2nd. Great effing start. Keep on the gas

    • Aaeismacgychel

Dammit. I had to say something.

  • Aaeismacgychel

Hell of a save by Crawford.

  • Long Jon

too many passes on the 2 on 1 80 didnt want to shoot

    • Icdws

Pass was there. Sharp needs to lift it

      • Long Jon

just saw the replay and i totally agree sharpy needs to elevate

  • Aaeismacgychel

Effing Rozsival. Can’t do that. Frak

  • Icdws

    Rosie! Thanks for that

  • Aaeismacgychel

    FRAK FRAK FRAK

  • DtotheK

And it had to be that pompous asshole…..

  • Peanut Butter

Seriously we would be better with 5 Dmen then putting that slow ass piece of shit on the ice.

    • Icdws

      Worst player still playing

      • Peanut Butter

Well he got a rest sitting in the penalty box so I’m sure Q thought he woulde be slightly faster.

  • TitanTransistor

Killer Instinct meter is reading a hard zero. Please refill.

    • Aaeismacgychel

I disagree. I thought we started that 2nd pretty well. Bad penalty and Bad coverage for 2 goals

  • Long Jon

sit rosy already, play one of the young D guys

  • TitanTransistor

Amazingly, Seabrook has managed to be worse than Rozsival through 1.5 periods.

    • Peanut Butter

From where I sit they’re each responsible for a goal against. But yeah Seabs was really slow getting to his man on the 1st.

  • Aaeismacgychel

Gotta give the Wild credit- they’re pushing damn hard right now.

    • Peanut Butter

Agree they definitely didn’t give up. And I don’t know why we seem so surprised to see a team come back from a 3 goal deficit when we did it twice in the 1st round.

  • Icdws

Things have turned. Need to stop it and turn things around quickly

  • DtotheK

    Fuck this…. Come on boys.

  • Icdws

Oh my god Rozival is so fucking bad

    • Aaeismacgychel

      Not taking anyone. Ridiculous.

      • WookRN

        Just standing there….

      • Icdws

        Everything he does is wrong

        • D_Smith

          He’s a great screener lol

  • Peanut Butter

Once again Yeo is out coaching Q.

  • seabsrat

    Playoff meltdown level: STL Blues

  • Say what again

And everyone complains about Darling’s rebound control.

    • Aaeismacgychel

      Not sure if serious?

      • Say what again

        Are you?

        • Aaeismacgychel

          Yes?

          • Say what again

Really? Parise didn’t score off one of at least 5 rebounds I saw Crow give up? Off what, 12 shots at that point?

  • Aaeismacgychel

Welllll, it’s never easy with this team, I’ll tell you that. We need to get to the 3rd tied. The break should balance us a bit

    • Peanut Butter

I mean we’ve had so much time off we might as well play a 2OT game right?

  • Icdws

Captain time to wright the ship

  • To Saad be the glory

If we lose this game with Versteeg in the press box we’re fucking screwed.

    • Bob Lanz

I wanna cry, just thinking about it

  • seabsrat

Hoping we can get out of this period even. This is bad news right now.

  • Aaeismacgychel

Well, Rozsival made that play somehow. Not like it cancels out the bad ones…

    • Icdws

      For sure

    • TitanTransistor

      #Qlogic

  • wreckinball

    Wake the fuck up

  • wreckinball

    Wild pressing counter

  • Aaeismacgychel

    Vezina Finalist label sighting!!!

  • TitanTransistor

Every bad change thus far has involved Marian Hossa.

  • Aaeismacgychel

Well, the NBCSN affiliates are happy. They prepared about 2hrs worth of Dubnyk dialogue so now they can use it.

    • To Saad be the glory

I’m watching CBC/Sportsnet. Bob Cole is nice, but Greg Millen evens things out the other way.

  • wreckinball

Need to coach the wild on the counter come on now

  • DtotheK

    Needed that!

  • Aaeismacgychel

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLL!!!! BOY DID WE NEED THAT

  • Aaeismacgychel

Good lord was that a soft one I thought Vermette tipped it

    • WookRN

No. Just a beautiful well placed shot.

      • Aaeismacgychel

Absolutely well placed. Sorta a change up. Just froze Dubnyk

        • WookRN

How did we bench this kid for the whole series…..

          • Aaeismacgychel

We should ask Versteeg- I hear he’s free for interviews right now.

  • To Saad be the glory

    Haha Versteeg,fuck you.

    • Icdws

Should keep him where he belongs, on injured list with lower body injury!

      • The Gatest Gamer

        with butthurt?

        • Peanut Butter

Actually made me laugh out loud.

  • Icdws

    TTT

  • wreckinball

Initially thought weak but it was very well placed

  • D_Smith

Thank you TT for getting the train back on the rails

  • Long Jon

maybe now that TT scored we wont have to see versteeg any more

  • Peanut Butter

    Teuvo

  • seabsrat

Phew, that was clutch. That goal should keep Verbeauty away from the ice for a little.

    • Aaeismacgychel

That might have been the best close your eyes and fire it on net attempt I’ve seen in a while.

      • Bob Lanz

        Eyes wide shut

  • Peanut Butter

Kind of like that each line has a goal

  • Long Jon

what do you guys think of crows play so far this game?

    • wreckinball

      Mediocre

    • seabsrat

I don’t understand why he didn’t go for a cover or shovel the puck away on the PP goal. The other 2 were total defensive meltdowns. He seems like he’s fighting it a bit, though.

      • Aaeismacgychel

Yeah, he was tentative there. Should have covered but I think he thought the defender had control and was going to put it around. I understand why he didn’t but looking back on it wasn’t a good decision.

    • Bob Lanz

He went down to low on third one but otherwise not on him. Rozy on ice for at least two goals against, and penalty on the other

    • Aaeismacgychel

Really good 1st period. Questionable 2nd period, though aside for that 2nd goal I don’t think he had much of any chance on the other 2. All 3 goals coming from wide open players within 5 feet of the net. Just can’t allow that stuff.

    • D_Smith

He’s been ok. Hawks cannot be outshot by the Wild though, no excuse for that. SOG and possession were bad in the 2nd.

    • PuttingOnTheFoil77

Crow’s fantastic regular season was masking this defense all year. Go Crow.

    • Icdws

The problem with crow is you know he is going to give up at least two goals every game. He is not a shut out guy. So things like the second period happen with too much regularity. He is great for a period or two then things can change on him, defensive lapses and bang leads disappear. I don’t see anything tonight different from his entire career, especially in playoffs.

      • Peanut Butter

You realize he probably should have won the Conn Smythe in ’13 and pretty much single handedly got us through two rounds of playoffs last year?

        • Icdws

Look I’m not saying he is a bad player. I like him a lot and believe he should be in net. He had a great season, but the game is rarely out of reach. They must keep playing hard in front of him..

          • Peanut Butter

I guess I just don’t understand when you say it’s typical of his playoff career?

          • Icdws

Well crow can throw it but he is not like lundquist or quick or other such goalies where a shutout is possible almost expected when they step on the ice. So 2-3 goal leads early in the game are not a wrap. Tonight he threw it in the 3rd and they won. The question was what did we think of his play, I think it was typicál of what to expect. Keep throwing it, score 4 goals and give him the Conn Smythe. I’m down with that.

      • TitanTransistor

Maybe, but at worst he’s still a better bet than our best alternative.

  • wreckinball

    So so

  • Bob Lanz

Possession is not only 9/10ths of the law it’s crucial to winning the third. Win the third win the game Lets Go Hawks!

  • wreckinball

    Just get the next one

  • Aaeismacgychel

Rozsival looks exhausted already. It’s 20 seconds into the period.

  • Aaeismacgychel

    Ugh. Ugh Ugh Ugh

    • Icdws

      Oh boy PK time

  • Aaeismacgychel

OKay. Good kill. Good kill. No more of those penalties please

  • Peanut Butter

Their PP is too good to keep giving them all these chances.

  • Aaeismacgychel

Good effing lord. Brad, you were having a phenomenal game. Cannot take that penalty

  • Long Jon

damn we have to stop sitting in the box

  • Aaeismacgychel

Oh god. Hard to breathe at this point. Come on guys, keep the pressure on and close this out.

    • Icdws

Love keeping the pressure on. Play in wild zone, hard for them to score from there

      • Aaeismacgychel

Absolutely. Playing to not lose typically ends in just that, a loss. Rather be aggressive and keep the pressure on.

  • Icdws

    What was that Rosie ?

  • Aaeismacgychel

Keith was just crosschecked in the effing head behind the play. Wily veteran play and even better presence by Keith to not retaliate

    • Bob Lanz

      Whistles swallowed cause they trailing

      • Aaeismacgychel

Oh yeah, no way they’ll call that. That’s why it’s a smart play and even better response

  • WookRN

Say you”re Mike Yeo. When do you pull Dubnyk?

    • PuttingOnTheFoil77

      The standard

    • Aaeismacgychel

whenever the puck is deep in Chicago’s end.

  • Aaeismacgychel

    This is effing chaotic

  • D_Smith

    Gulp, clinching increasing

  • Aaeismacgychel

Phew. Okay. Close this fraker out

  • Aaeismacgychel

    OUTFRAKINDTANDING FINAL 2 MINUTES

    • Aaeismacgychel

That’s how you mothereffing close a fraker out

  • Long Jon

    hawks win hawks win

  • D_Smith

Hawks outshot Wild 15-8 in the 3rd, felt much better. Need more of the 1st and 3rd again Sunday.

  • TitanTransistor

A win is a win, but holy fuck, what the hell was that 2nd period?

    • Aaeismacgychel

Wild brought it hard in that 2nd and just kept pushing. Hawks had trouble clearing the zone and the Wild are too good to give them that sort of time in your own zone. Great response back in the 3rd though. I’ll take that game. This series is going to be tough, that’s for sure and just can’t give them those phenomenal chances

    • RMM

What a HORRIBLE Coach . the Dumbass pulls the guy out of the press box to score the GWG . Nirvana??

      • TitanTransistor

Tell me, what did you think of the defense pairs. Were you not in awe of how Q continued to put Rozsival out to be torn apart by the speed of Minne’s forecheck. Amazing to watch. Like abstract art in action.

But please, keep speaking of Q’s genius and pretending that icing the lines this blog among others have been begging for since before game 1 is some achievement.

Does he send you flowers for defending his honor?

        • RMM

How about that “hot garbage ” defense . No goals in the last 32 minutes and just very few chances.

No He doesn’t pay me .I just have 55 years of watching this game and know that your bashing him is utter nonsense.
As for Rozsival , if Q Dineen and Kitch thought with all of their combined 100 years plus of NHL experience , they had someone better to play 32 would be sitting in the press box.

          5 down 11 to go .

        • tammorrow

It’s like they aren’t even listening. SMH.

And while the actual mistakes resulting in goals weren’t considered to be Roz’es, they very well could be attributed to the D trying to cover for his slow ass.

  • Bob Lanz

    11 y’all

    • tammorrow

Agreed. Dizzy was pretty good tonight.

  • Aaeismacgychel

By the way, great response in the 3rd by Crawford. Phenomenal 1st and 3rd and shaky 2nd with little help from his friends in that period. Hopefully he can build on this and take it into Game 2. He looked a lot better to me tonight than he was in Round 1. I think he’s close to getting his form back

  • D_Smith

Craw didn’t like that post-game question about maybe getting pulled, that was a dumb one. I don’t blame him.

    • Aaeismacgychel

I don’t blame him either. If looks could kill

    • tammorrow

the appropriate response is “Why didn’t your mom get pulled?”

    • RMM

Neither did Q in the presser. 🙂

  • Brandon Murray

Whew. That is about all I’ve got after that one. Absolute domination in the 1st when the Blackhawks were doing Blackhawk things. The second, not so much. First things first. The second goal was on Crow. The 1st and 3rd were a result of the defense failing to clear the puck directly in front of the net and Minnesota straight up out working them. The 3rd goal especially were Roszival seemed mesmorized by Granlund’s ability to skate. He just watched the whole thing.

I’d have to imagine if I’m Crow and I see a #32 directly in front of me within 4 feet of a puck, I’m saying “Oh Fuck” to myself. Crow was huge in the 1st and in the 3rd. Coincidently, so was the rest of the roster. This series will not be easy. This Wild team is annoying, fast, and skilled. Protect home ice and everything should shake out in our favor, but for fuck’s sake, if you get a 3 goal lead, don’t go to sleep.

This team of all teams should understand that 2 or 3 goal leads are not safe in the playoffs.

    • tammorrow

Good points. Some people are saying that 3rd goal is directly on Keith and Roszi played his responsibility like he should have. I say he should have reacted much sooner. Who cares if he’s covering other side of the zone? If a guy is driving towards the net, you move towards the threat, even if he is supposedly covered by someone else.

  • Jim

    11-0 or 4-3 it’s all about the W’s

    NICE WIN!

  • T.M.

everybody seems to be saying that Teuvo’s goal was a soft goal on Dubnyk. I don’t think Dubnyk knew it was coming. how many guys shoot from the boards and get it on net. and no, teuvo’s eyes weren’t closed. he knew exactly what he was doing. that goal reminded me of kane’s backhand goal against the islander’s earlier in the season where he was covered and the goalie had no idea the shot was coming.

    • tammorrow

Regardless, Dub’s job is to stop pucks and he wasn’t screened or otherwise inhibited from seeing that puck. He obviously had no clue where it was, but he stops that shot 100% of the time he sees the shot being taken. I would say it was soft because that shot is never expected to go in.
