Two time Norris trophy winner vs some kid named Hampus. How’s this even fair?

  • seabsrat

Didn’t take long for that dirtbag to go to the box.

  • Icdws

    Yikes pp. No look good

  • Icdws

VTS line will be the difference again in this series

  • Jim

Perry, be-atch, trying to break Kane’s hand with a cheap slash.

From what I’ve seen so far, the hawks are gong to put a hurt on the Ducks. Lots of good chances in the Anaheim zone. And the Ducks defense looks suspect compared to what Chicago saw in Nashville, and for the matter in Minnesota.

Edit: Hope NBC stops sucking Kesler’s *** some time this series, because I had to turn the sound off.

    • Icdws

NBC grasping to keep viewers by talking up ducks.

  • Icdws

Rundblad will be less time now

    • seabsrat

That’s too bad.. It really didn’t take long. Missed standing the ducks up at the blue line, rushed back and ended up screening crow before getting knocked down. Disastrous.

      • Icdws

Yes it was a double bad move

        • DJ

And the second one was a double bad move, too. Fails to clear, then gets beat down low. Knowing Q, Runblad can fasten his seatbelt for the rest of this game, and check out the Honda Center press box concession stand on Tuesday.

    • wreckinball

      Started with awful Kane pass

    • Jim

      Alternative to Runblad? Cuminsky?

  • DJ

Can’t worry. If we keep this level up, the goals will come.

    • Icdws

      Still confident for sure.

  • wreckinball

Just keep pressure on Hope we are not dealing with an unconscious goalie

  • Nineteen Eightyeight

    1. First hockey move of the game by Corey Perry is a slash of the wrists on Patrick Kane. What a dick.
    2. I couldn’t tell ya what his buddy Getzlaf has done and the first line was effectively neutralized. But Kesler scares me.
    3. Three pucks thrown across the crease by Toews. Maybe take a couple shots on those?
    4. Four Ducks turnovers in their defensive zone leading to great opportunities. Poor puck discipline by them. I like our chances.
    5. Rundblad. Got manhandled on the first goal. Made a nice stop on an attempt after. Time to grow up kid.

  • wreckinball

D has to play better Ducks have had chances when they get through the forecheck

  • wreckinball

    Man is Perry a dick

    • Jim

I’m just hoping he doesn’t injure somebody, which, of course he will do given a chance. Some guys you wouldn’t mind seeing boarded.

I like the way Duncan Keith dealt with Jeff Carter’s slash, Carter slashed Keith in the hands just before Keith popped him.

  • wreckinball

    Teuvo had a good period

  • DJ

    Goodbye Runblad.

    • seabsrat

      He looks bad. Real bad.

      • Jim

Runblad knocked on his ass on the first goal. Second goal standing there right in front of the net again. Kinda makes you miss old number 32 🙂

So far this game the Hawks are actually taking it to them, they just aren’t going in, it happens. And Anaheim undressed the kid, number 5.

The only place the Ducks are winning is the only place that counts, the score. I don’t think they can win 4 games like this.

    • wreckinball

Horrible play can Timo be worse

  • wreckinball

D looking sluggish forecheck has covered it up some

  • limoman

Kreuger line spent entire shift in O zone well done

    • Jim

I like the trend. Their goalie is not Ken Dryden.

  • seabsrat

Man this broadcast should be titled “Number 17: The Ryan Kesler Story”. I’ve heard more about him than anything happening on the ice.

  • disqus_AjQK544RED

Have not seen Saad in a while

  • wreckinball

    Diving works

    • Icdws

      No sheet

  • limoman

    Good PK

  • Icdws

We need one to find back of net soon

  • TitanTransistor

popular opinion: Rundblad has been bad. Which he has.

unpopular opinion: Kane has been bad. Which he has.

    • D_Smith

      Them’s fightin’ words

    • DJ

Somehow, I don’t think Kane will be bad for an entire series.

    • ZigZags82

Something makes me think both improve, especially Kane, something

  • seabsrat

    WOW

  • Icdws

    Thanks I needed that Richie

  • Jim

Late period goal. That is bad ju ju for Anaheim. Hawks within one. I believe in Toews.

  • TitanTransistor

    Blackhawks PP is an embarrassment.

  • DJ

Losing this game would be irritating, not necessarily worrisome. Clean up the back end, and keep peppering Anderson. He’ll crack.

    • Jim

      this

    • ZigZags82

      Agreed.

  • DJ

Christ. Shitty bounce off of Keith’s stick…3-1. Get Game 2, men, and all wi be well.

  • TitanTransistor

Joel Quenneville’s PP murdered this team’s momentum.

    • seabsrat

It’s a real shame, because this could be a totally different game if we had a decent PP.

    • Jim

They got a couple of good shots off the PP. One off of their goalies head, a rocket from Hossa. They just weren’t going in today.

The zone entries were ugly. Who dumps in on the PP?

      • DJ

Sometimes that’s all you can do. It’s not a good recipe for success, of course. If you’re forced to resort to that, you absolutely have to win the battles on the boards, and we didn’t do that either.

    • limoman

I dont remember Q skating on the PP What # was he?

  • Jim

Well, that happened. In my view they had the game they wanted. Shots just didn’t go in. Plus some early Runblad boners.

  • Brandon Murray

Maybe everyone should remember we’re playing a good team and one loss does not a series make.

    • DJ

Correct. Plus, it seems that the difference between this and what would be a winning performance isn’t quite as far as we might fear.

Regroup and go for Game 2. Even if we don’t get that one, all we need is to hold serve at home and beat them once here. A Game 5 win to make it 3-2 would really tighten sphincters in the OC.

    • Hockey Newbie

Agreed Brandon. They got more contributions out of guys who were not top players and they capitalized on some juicy opportunities. Runblad was shaky early on, but seemed ok later. Playing Timo only 5 minutes is not going to get it done Q. Not sure Q coached a great game, but I really thought we were going to bombard them with shots, but I think we only shot one more shot for both periods 2&3 combine than the 1st. Let’s get game 2. And, someone mentioned earlier that Anderson was not Dryden, could someone please tell those clowns announcing that? Every average stop, was gushed about.

On a side note, does anyone else constantly get kicked off this site due to non-responsive scripts? Ugh .. so damned frustrating.

  • wreckinball

Not much going on here strange

  • HawksRule

Rundblad was directly at fault for the first two goals. His hockey IQ is not good. I wish that Coach Q would have gone with Stephen Johns. We are now paying the price of Coach Q not developing a defenceman over the regular season and playoffs. Crawford is not worth $6 million a year … hopefully we can jettison his salary in the off-season. Raanta never deserved to be sent down, and would have won this game.

    • TitanTransistor

      LOL, Raanta? Right.

    • To Saad be the glory

Nice to see people got jokes after a loss, lemme try it and see what happens. “Now that the Hawks lost and Q usually makes lineup changes, didn’t Versteeg used to play defense in junior?”

    • Jim

Maybe we can trade Kane for Miller in the off season to replace Crawford?

      • To Saad be the glory

        (pssst,Jim,it’s Crawstink)

  • Brandon Murray

I’ll sleep tonight taking comfort in remembering how this team responded in round 1 after 2 separate beat downs by Nashville. A split would be golden in the OC and an 0-2 hole is not the end of the world. Maybe it is just me, but after watching the last 5 playoff runs and specifically thinking about being down 3-0 to Vancouver and making it to game 7 (I know we lost), or being down 3-1 to Detroit and winning, being down 3-1 to LA and forcing game 7, being down 2-0 to St. Louis and winning I know it takes a special effort to knock this team out of the playoffs, and quite frankly……..

Nothing Anaheim did today wowed me or made me feel like they are so awesome that we should run scared. If anything I feel like we beat us and just didn’t get the same puck luck they did. On to game 2.

  • Sopel the catfish

Bad news guys, the Hawks just lost these series and the NHL is going to give Anderson the Vezina, and Stoner will get the Norris. I mean, the Ducks are just so dam good. Fucking jokers on NBC and NHL radio. Hawks played the game they needed to, just didn’t get the puck luck.

Corey Perry is a fucking turd and I want bad things to happen to him.

The officials were absolute garbage, who was that fucking clown who kept refusing to drop the puck? They review time left in the end of the third period after an icing call, why not in the first? There was closer to 2 or 3 seconds left when icing was whistled yet the clock ran down to .5

Rundblad unfortunately filled in and played like first round Rosie, but I expect him to be more like second round Rosie moving forward. Even though the scoreboard shows they lost the Hawks showed they are the better team.

Did anybody other than the hometeam score keepers actually see 25 hits for the ducks in the first period?
