• Chesterfield King

Didn’t we do this last year and then got absolutely shelled the next game?

    • jackattack

Fuck it. Celebrating is in order, next game be damned.

      • Fleshrifle

Amen. Old evil mojo is still locked out. New evil mojo was written into the new CBA. We just haven’t seen the fine print yet.

    • pompoon

I think this is what kicked off the soul-crushing 9 game losing streak last year
      (/listened to it anyway…)

      • Chesterfield King

I’m just gonna pretend this whole thread doesn’t exist, for the sake of my superstitious sanity

        • Joe Banks

I’m with you. Lock the door, close the shutters!

      • Fleshrifle

Wouldn’t that streak now just put them somewhere in 6th place in the conference. After that performance I say let loose the DLR hounds

      • Joe Banks

We do not speak of that in these here parts…

    • Toews still makes funny faces!

I have no recollection of that, and my maps of Canadia still has a huge fucking hole in it between Saskatchewan and British Columbia

    • RWCrum

Selective amnesia prevents me from agreeing, but the 2013 edition of the Chicago Freaking Blackhawks just has a different mindset this year. Even when seemingly getting the shit kicked out of them early (see Calgary, San Jose), this team this year just doesn’t seem capabe of acknowledging it. Instead, they claw back, one eye at a time, then start tearing off appendages, one at a time, except the opponent can’t be left a bloody stump of a torso, still yelling “come back and fight!”, because they’ve torn out the tongue, too.

    • Sparky_The_Barbarian

Classic Trap Game coming up at the end of a successful road trip in Smashville Sunday. That is for sure.

  • chidiver

Yeah! Makes me want to eat dancing burgers and shoot zombies!

  • Gozer the Traveler

    This is bad juju

  • jackattack

Death to Torres. Death to Doan. Death to Yotes. Long Live the Four Feathers.

  • CaptainPorkchop

Note that in the stoppage with about 2 minutes left the arena played ‘Panama’, causing the late goal.

    • chidiver

      The power of DLR

      :shudders:

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=549444529 Michael Jacobi

am i the only one that heard DLR on the broadcast tonight?

    • Z-man19

      I heard Panama

  • Joe Banks

    This is sooooo good.

  • theHawk

New site new rules…let it play

  • putmeinthemadhouse

Pretty hilarious how in the game preview “doan will be called for a penalty and will look incredulous” was just about spot on.

    • MySpoonIsTooBig

Yeah, but to be fair that’s about as bold of a prediction as, say, “Bolland will not smile if he scores a goal”…

      • pasha19

Oh, but did you see his wicked little grin when he was standing by the bench talking to the boys right after he did score? Priceless.

        • Joe Banks

There’s no end to the TMFF pictures, but I am noticing an increase of Bolland pictures with a silly ass grin on his face.

          • Accipiter

His meds are wearing off causing visible human emotion.

  • zacked

For some god-forsaken reason (probably insomnia) I was just reading youtube comments on the Mayers fight. They were predictably awful, but then I struck gold:

    “TheMixxer93:
    Raffi Torres is satin”

Couldn’t have said it better myself. He’s definitely cheap shit that should have been banished years ago.

    • Hack

There’s no glossy finish to Raffi Torres. Let’s just say that you could have said it better yourself.

      • Joe Banks

LOL – what’s the thread count on Raffi?

    • Sparky_The_Barbarian

Thought it might be a typo or Satan, but then the devil has power to assume a pleasing shape, and that AIN’T Torres

  • Jeff

Just got home and had a big smile heading to CI hoping to see this song. Don’t post often, read everyday, and it’s great to see this up.

  • BodomSlayer

    Hawks win! Freaking awesome.

  • unknown operator

ain’t got nobody, waitin’ at home.

  • 10thMountainFire

Patrick Kane is a legitimate Hart Trophy candidate. Yes, it’s early. But Patrick Kane is a goddamn legitimate Hart Trophy candidate.

    • Mohel

agree, 10th. People often say the game seems in slow motion to a player
when he is this hot. Kaner is so hot that it seems on the screen it is
all is slow motion; but nobody can touch the guy. Looks like magic
right now – a lot like Savard was with the puck.

    • putmeinthemadhouse

Tomas vanek would like to have a word with you.

      • High and Wide

note the word “candidate,” no one’s losing Vanek’s invitation in the mail here

      • jackattack

        Tomas Vanek’s team sucks dong.

  • MattC86

God knows there have been countless more significant wins in recent years, but damned if this isn’t the single most primevally satisfying Hawks win I can remember. Doan, Smith’s tantrums, all the bullshit. Let DLR blare, bitches.

    • Joe Banks

I used to crave the tears of Luongo, but Smith tears are pretty good.
      Pass the salt.

  • Toews still makes funny faces!

Smith vs The Mutha Fucking Hawks at home: 2 GP, 12 Goals against, 7.58 GAA, 0.744 SV% (41/53)

    Smith vs rest of NHL: 5GP, 8 Goals against, 1.89 GAA, 0.914 SV% (85/93)

    • 10thMountainFire

It’s like Bobby Lu moved to Phoenix, dyed his hair, and became even more angsty.

      • Sparky_The_Barbarian

Do not (snicker) insult Bobby Lou by comparing him to Smith.

      • Joe Banks

Did he shatter his stick again?

  • DesertHawk

Shellackings are kinda dull to watch in person. Glad to be at a win though… even if my car insurance premium is gonna go up due to the trip. Coyotes just didn’t seem to want to play hockey at all, until the last 2 minutes or so. 5 penalties and 3 SOG in the first period… I don’t know many teams that would survive that kind of play, especially while allowing 17 on their own keeper. I can kinda understand the decision to keep Smith in, as the team in front of him was basically a non-factor, but I feel they should have gone with the pull if only to wake up the Yotes. All and all I think we beat them on the ice and behind the bench.

    • 10thMountainFire

So was the crowd as overwhelmingly dominated by Hawks fans as it appeared to be via my television?

      • DesertHawk

Yes and it thinned out quickly after the 1st period, sadly.

        • Accipiter

The were headed to Seattle for the 2nd period.

          • DesertHawk

            Hahah NO.

          • Paul the Fossil

            BAM.

    • RWCrum

It was kinda hard for Foley and Edzo, too. Not that they weren’t enjoying themselves, but as can happen during a game like this, their minds wandered and we got play by play only part of the time. I’d certainly rather have them being giddy and talking about ice cream and how they were suffering through a “cold spell” in Phoenix (77 degrees), empathizing with the folks back home, than grousing about a big loss, however.

  • JRF

Just watched the highlights on NHL.com. They were from the Coyotes feed and it’s a completely different experience when you get disappointment and hopelessness after every Hawks goal.

    • Sparky_The_Barbarian

      Yeah, it’s even MORE FUN

  • BigCSouthside

For those opposed to DLR: every hawk either neutral or in the plus column. Over 90% save percentage for the backup goalie. The only reason it wasn’t 7 or 8 to 2 is because Q had mercy on them and did everything short of sending Crawford out in full pads to quarterback the late powerplays.

    Everybody wants some

    • RWCrum

If Q isn’t as good a friend with Tippett as he is, this game could have been 8-1, easy.

  • Waylon

Hey Mikey – how does Patrick Kane’s ass taste?

    • Accipiter

      Ummm, Mikey likes it.
      /life cereal’d

  • Hawkeytalk

Their record on the year alone is DLR worthy. I listened to it, so good.

  • Sparky_The_Barbarian

    No Humpty Hattie
    No Shutout
    No Five Goal Victory Margin.

    And I don’t care. What a night.

  • FattyBeef

Ummmm. Like the idea of them being well rested to play Nashville and only one back to back game but at the tail end of the homestead.

Hawks in a ridiculous position right now. Pretty awesome when the younger players seem to improve on the ideal trajectory.

Shaw = legitimate center. Really like his game right now.
Irritated that Kruger’s undressing of the Coyotes was cut short by whatever happened at center ice. Suppose it was necessary but putting in another 2 or 3 goals and stepping on the gas at the end would have been better IMO.

  • CornelisonsFlagPointer

Satisfying win all around. The improvement continues, no shootout this time, and The Villain was dealt with appropriately. On to Nashville!

    (jungle drums…)

  • Mohel

Using this site can really suck dick sometimes! Got a little Howdy at the top, but can post as myself without filling out all kinds of shit and I my name on the post I just did isn’t red. Signed in with f-ing Disqus many times, and just had to do it again but it wouldn’t take.

I like the bloggers and posters here better than SCH but these experiences make push me back there. Why is this so unfriendly. Sorry about the vent….

    • Mohel

      I didn’t do that many typos – don’t know WTF happened there…..

  • Sparky_The_Barbarian

One thing I don’t get is the “Patrick Sharp has lost it” mentality, as opposed to the “Patrick Sharp is snake bit” mentality, which I understand. He’s fighting in the corners and winning battles. He’s second on the team in assists, he leads the league in PING, and when those start richocheting in as opposed to out, the goals will come. We all know he’s a streaky player, I’m fine with him saving the hot streak for June. And come one, do you know how hard it is to hit a post with a puck? And he’s done it what, five times in the last three games?

    • Accipiter

There were a few games that Sharpie seemed a bit lost (his overall game looked bad), but for the most part he is getting chances. Like you said, some of those pings go in the net, he isn’t looking as bad. Hitting posts isn’t as hard as you think it is.

      • Paul the Fossil

Not for me, I just aim for the goaltender’s chest. Works all the time.

    • FattyBeef

He looks very very slow footed and speed wise. At least compared to last year and the years before. Making some suspect passes. With the exception of yesterday was starting to get into the old habit of flying the zone. Consument floater in the offensive end which is fine when he is banging in goals but looks pretty ridiculous when he isn’t

Looked way better yesterday and hopefully that is a continuing trend but with out that top end burst and overall speed it definitely mitigates his value IMO.

    • detroit must die

I’ll take it when “Patrick Sharp has lost it” still means he’s been a PPG player so far.

  • DuncDropsADeuce

Love Kane’s use of the “Spin-O-Rama” (which Drunk Foley always slurs) as a way to shield the puck and to buy time/space. It seems like he does it 2-3 times/game and one of them usually leads to a great scoring opportunity. That pass he made to Bolland was outrageous.

Right now, this team makes for quite the pants party.

  • Mohel

Trying to post a message, but I have to pick a name (even though I am logged in to CI) and email. Tried hitting the register with Disqus tab, and it says I am registered with them but I have to log in. Of course I can’t find where to do so. Not fuckin’ worth all this crap – not very user friendly.

    • Accipiter

Calm down. Go to the little gear on the right side just under where it says to leave a message in the comment section, login there, then you will be one of us.

      • Mohel

Thanks for the info – I can post as myself again. Gets to be a pain to have to go thru all that crap for the nth time!

Wait. So was it an imposter Mohel that borrowed $20 from me?

          • Mohel

Certainly was an imposter, as far as you know

      • thefearlessfreep

Dang, thanks for showing me this! I’ve been trying to post for months! Nice to be back posting instead of lurking!

        • Mohel

Glad I’m not the only one!! Really, a tutorial post for newbies would help those of us who don’t know a gear symbol means “log in hear”

          • Mohel

            Or even “log in here”!!

          • Accipiter

You can edit your comment as well, but some people, purists, frown at the notion.

          • Mohel

It is more enjoyable to make fun of myself.

      • pasha19

Got a solution for me? I don’t have trouble posting in comments (as you can see) but I wanted to post a story in the forums about meeting Toews during the lockout. I keep getting a “fatal error” message.

        • Accipiter

Sorry, no solution. mmD and a few others have tried doing forum posts and I believe they had similar problems.
